Borla 300 bodies balancing
I am balancing the throttle bodies and found that one of the bodies has a different reading between the two air horns on the body. Does anybody know if it's possible to adjust between the two by slackening the Alan screws on the shaft or by some other method. I haven't tried doing them yet as I don't like to tamper unless I know what I'm getting into.
Also, Borla show mesh integral with their air horns. The ones I received from TWM around 5 years ago have no mesh screen and as the under hood clearance is limited I would like to try and add the screen between the throttle body and the air horn. Has anybody done this and if so, what micron mesh should be used taking into account the amount of air space that needs to remain. Alternatively I would use a 25 mm air horn as I have some mesh screen that fit over the top that I got from PWM at the time. However it seems that Borla only do 35mm as a minimum. Again does anybody know who manufactures 25 mm (or less) polished air horns that will fit. Your help would be much appreciated. Mike |

Try this for balancing:
http://www.borlainduction.com/media/..._throttles.pdf Regarding mesh/filters, the tea-strainer type gauze is hugely restrictive. I use individual tall K&N filters each completely covering each trumpet for road use, which is only slightly restrictive at higher RPM. I have reasonably high bonnet clearance which allows that. On track I have the trumpets open so they're completely unrestricted; the difference is noticeable. |
He's right. Tea Strainers create a huge air flow restriction, and a huge loss of power. This is a dyno run we did a few years ago. We made a run with the tea strainers on. Then popped them off and ran again. Nothing else changed, and the runs were only a couple of minutes apart.

I'v seen these advertised by Pierce Manifolds. I haven't bought them yet, but I keep thinking about them. http://www.piercemanifolds.com/v/vsp...9217.250-2.jpg Weber DCOE, IDF Filter Fits 99217.250 |

I have a set of the attached. If interested pm me. I currently am running the teastrainers inside the TWM air horns. Don't notice any difference between the two. Bill Bryan bbryan00@cox.net

Mike I would say you either take the offending throttle body off, examine the butterfly fit as per light coming through the barrels while closed, then if the high cylinder shows more light, you will then need to slacken the butterfly screws and reposition the butterflies until they seat correctly.
You could swap a body with one of the others first to prove it is that body. Do you have one low cylinder, or one high cylinder in comparison to the other 7? Gary |
