F/I for Pond Side Oiler??
Hello All,
Working on my first Kirkham! Ordered the car and dialing in the specs. Also have been working with Keith Craft and have settled on a Pond Side Oiler (aluminum) with SHelby heads, manifold, etc. Moderate cam for urban driving, 500-550 hp when all done. Question: From time to time I might well drive the car from sea level/SF Bay Area to Lake Tahoe (elev. 6500'). Should I consider F/I? Are the benefits worth the costs? What benefits will I have? Downside? Thanks! al |
Lots of info here on pros/cons of FI. When I spoke to KC about it, it will add about $7500 plus fuel pump, return line to fuel tank and other little bits for a TWM style system. Driveability of a properly set up system is better over a wide range of temperatures and altitudes. "Properly set up" being the key words here. Keith has done a number of these, so he should be able to handle it without too much trouble. They also look great.

TWM injection
I've been running TWM on a stroked shelby 427 for 3 years without FI problems. We (Thor Motorsports) are offering a 5% discount on TWM thru the end of the year. We also offer complete setups, FAST cpu's, Aeromotive pumps and filters, injectors, ect. You can find us in the advertisers column.

I would highly advise you to consider the Mass Flo system. Much cheaper than a stack system and you do not have to worry about filtration issues or tuning, I will say the stacks look better, but the Mass Flo will be much easier to live with. I have webers and love them but they are not easy.

Mass-Flo
I put the Mass Flo system on my Kirkham and it works great, glad I did. Car runs great and starts every time hot or cold. In fact it's like a new car where you can just reach over the door and turn the key and it starts. It is a bit of a challenge to get the aircleaner to fit but it can be done. Also if you go Mass Flo buy the Mallory fuel pump that they sell with their fuel line kit. Fits nice, works well. Happy to share my experience with you.

i have the mass flo system on my 342 it works great, i will be using it on my 390 stroker will use 36 or 43 pound injectors, with the victor fe efi manifold.
chris richards makes the tfi distributor for the fe so you can use a a9l computer easy to tune if you have to and it is mass air so it adapts to different set ups very easily. |
