Hi Allen, I am in the market for a GT40. My problem is fitting into one. I am 6'1'" and cannot get into a Superformance unless the floor pan is tubbed and the rails are removed from the seat. I can fit in a Cav without a problem. Can you give me any feedback about the seat set up on your car? Thanks

The RCR has plenty of room for you, I am 6' and had this car set up to fit me. Actually it's a little bit of a stretch with the pedals all of the way back like they are on my car. Probably a perfect fit for you just being a little taller. I have plenty of head room in my RCR as well. The steering wheel has the quick release, but I never needed to remove it to get in or out. I also had the seats re-worked to give me a little more room. We took the bolsters in on the sides which gave a wider seat area.

Default RCR from what I understand builds prototypes for Detroit

When you build prototypes that are worth $1 million up,
making a kit car is duck soup. So I reckon they are pretty good quality.
I know the price is high but if you are going to go 200 mph you don't want something that's going to fall apart on you.

Smile I did it

My original post was in Aug of 2010. I had been watching the GT 40 market for years but never thought I would be able to build one. But in Dec of 2010 I bought a RCR GT 40 that was suppose to be road worth, completed, titled and ready to drive car. When I received it, it would not run. Rims rubbing suspension arms, wiring problems, etc., etc. When I found a problem and fixed it, I would find two more, then eight more. The more I looked the more problems I found. After working on it for 5 months I had to stop and work on other cars. I started working on it again this week and hope to have in on the road in the next couple of months. It needs a paint job but I don't know if I will paint it now or wait till fall.
The RCR is a great kit. And this car has a lot of good parts. I look forward to some long road trips in this car. I retired in Jan so now I have the time to work on it. I'm going to add a Gurney bubble, tow bar and maybe build a 347 to go in it.
After a year of thinking about the paint color and asking everyone, I have chosen Black. Maybe white stripes. I ordered the meatballs and decals to make it look like a race car.
Yep it's going to be fun.

I spent a lot to have a car far more than I could normally afford. Maybe it is my expectations are too high, but for what I paid I didn't get what I expected. As you said there was always something not done right and even though I originally discussed a turnkey build at the end I was told that they didn't do those. I have email's that say different though. At any rate I think the RCR has potential to be a great product if built by the right person. In my case I know one person working for RCR started my build and half way through another person finished it and you could see the difference in the peoples work in several places. Again the car is a great product from RCR, I just recommend you build it and all should be well.

On another note I loved my RCR40, but it wasn't the kind of car I could really enjoy on the streets because you couldn't see out of it very well. These cars are meant to be raced and in my opinion are best suited for the track.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!
