What happened to the '05-'06 GTX conversions?

Back when the new Ford GT was still in production, I remember photographing a gold so-called targa roof "GTX" modified in Wisconsin. But one buyer I talked to said he sent his car from Calif. to that aftermarket firm in Wisconsin three times and they never got the top right so in disgust he sold his car. I subsequently saw a black one in Santa Monica with a canvas top over the center area (his GTC still with the sweeping up headrests that are something like those on the Thunderbird Sports Roadster of the Sixties). I was wondering how many the Wisconsin guy made before he stopped--20, 25? Did he ever get the hardtop (maybe it was like removable T-tops but no center bar) to work? Are these cars predicted to go up in value?

The company that did them went belly up. You can still get one though. Go to the GT forums.

I'm thinking about doing it to mine. I'll wait a while - until I trash it beyond collector value - and have the first Heritage GTX1.
