5-8k is an SPF Cobra install. CSX 10-12k. Maybe that price diference is BS but....
GT40's like 12-15k.
And these are 'regular' installs, not vintage detailed.

Agree with Rodnock and Rodneym. An old shop near me that has done a lot of Cobra work was hitting $10-12k easy for a clean CSX install...

My quote from Olthoff was wrong, I was recalling something else.

Here is his published pricing for GT40s: GT40 - Olthoff Racing

Keep in mind East Coast pricing is considerably less than Left Coast. Same with car resale prices, the bargoons are here, not there!

Yep, "high quality" to me IS vintage detailed. No leaks, corner balanced, no corners cut and no red and blue Aeroquip crap.

No ally red/blue? They do come in other finishes, ya know.
And what about the weight penalty for those aged JIC fittings?
No dig, it's just funny how we inividually prioritize things. For you, accuracy means no paint, no Aeroquip fittings but billet suspension and ally blocks are ok.

I'm a complicated guy that way. :)

What's visible versus what's not. And anything lightweight gets 1st priority. I'd never paint the car, but there aren't any unpainted originals. That's me I'm crazy! **)

$ 15,000.00 turn-key install at my dealership - Big block or small block does not matter - same price

$ 15,000.00 turn-key has been the same price I have charged since 2007

By the way. Does anyone remember the Shelby 8th birthday editions?

My question is what happens when SAI runs out of 50th anniversaries to celebrate? (and badge?)

I'm not a Shelby historian but wasn't the Cobra campaigned independently until the late 1960's and early 1970's? Shelby can always create the 50th Anniversary of some obscure local or regional win for many more years, no? :D

Anyway, there's always memorializing future CS birthdays too.

Bernica 01-31-2016 09:47 AM

Then they can move on to CS's ex-wife anniversaries too!:)

twobjshelbys 01-31-2016 10:07 AM

And my original post included as a quote above should have said "85th birthday" instead of 8th birthday. Sometimes I post on my phone and it seems to want me to say things I didn't mean :) (that is, the spill chicken fixes things that don't need fixing.)

One of them sold at Barrett Jackson on an official closeout sale from SAI when Amy was trying to raise cash. I think this is it:

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Archi...-CHASSIS-90003

I remember seeing it in the "museum" when they were up by the track.

Then it'll be 55th anniversary :)

Have they built out any of these?

I sat in four or five of them before I decided to run with RCR. I am just too tall. When I asked Superformance if there could be some adjustment for a taller person, they were rather curt and said, "no".

I view this as Ford's car. Their continuation series is the Ford GT...and to be avaialbe in 2016 the new version as shown on episode 106 of Leno's Garage.

If you want to see a truly rare GT40, Leno drives the 289 street version down the street.

Just my opinion.

How tall is too tall? I'm looking but I'm 6'2".

I have a SPF GT40 with a 6'5" owner. It depends on your body type, i.e. long torso vs. long legs. Long legs are easier to accommodate than a very tall torso. You can take foam out of the seat as they are just laid in the tub so easy to custom form to fit you.

Thanks for the reply. I'm more leg than torso but I'm going to have them measure
from seat to roof to see if it's worth flying out for a fit test.

Where are you? We may have an owner that will let you try the fit out.

Salt Lake. Work out of LA and see there is a new one in North LA, might be able
to get by and check it out.
