Does anybody have a picture of the trany from a GT40? What options are out there?

914fan,
The first GT40's used a Colotti, forget about it, an Italian exploder, couldn't handle the torque.
No eMail address, and will not post it here, but look for a ZF 9DS25 transaxle, and you will probably have better luck searching thru PANTERA parts, over that of the GT40.
If you are lookking for the KarKraft GT40 later MK series transaxle you will need to look to Holman Moody for pics or support.

That tranny would the the T-44. Heavy as hell but it works. I saw a number of new castings at the Shelby museum this past winter.

Fixed my e-mail.
The reason I am asking is I am looking for a mid engine trany and the porsche stuff cost more than it's weight in gold. It also does not hold up to good old american grunt without even more costly upgrades. I will check out the link above.

thank you all for the help sofar...

A new ZF will set you back the better part of $10k. RBT makes them. www.rbttrans.com.

Used ones seem to get $7k and up from what I have seen.

Alot of the replica GT 40 folks are using the Getrag box 016 I think.

Just remember that if you are going to use an original ZF box that the pantera box has a 1/2" longer input shaft than the ones used in the original GT40s. I don't remember the correct numbers but LLoyd Butfoy at RBT would know which is which.
