Concidering I've known his father since before the kid was born, I don't think Dad told him that. I believe its a case of a 20 year old not realizing that he could or would be called on it.
Give him a break unless he gets lippy then just step on him.

What about the jacket?

Dwight

Going to look into that for Race It, have sent him a PM to that effect, its a long shot by the sound of it. He can post any info on his other thread dedicated to the jacket.

Great Asp, your a jerk.

Doh!

You know, he came on the thread at first spouting "Superformance garbage" (which of course put me into anger mode), I went into defense mode at first. But it reminded me not to diss other peoples cars, a good lesson.

And yes, i am a jerk...

Well he must have got that from his dad about Superformance. Obviously doesn't know what he is talking about.

He hasn't come back with the chassis # yet. I guess it will be tomorrow.
Must have been an interesting day if his dad really told him that they were originals when he asked him for the chassis #.:LOL:

Your just pissy because your Cobraless right now.:3DSMILE::LOL:

I would have ordered mine if I could have slowed down at work :(

But I will get it ordered this fall no matter what, for a spring 2009 delivery :D

If his dad dealt with Gordon, he'd be bragging about the fact that his ERA's were Levy built. The car I have seen that was built by Gordon was "very" nice. I think the guy thought he would pass one by on the internet, but the "real/original" posse was on duty!

If I owed an original, I wouldn't want to drive it. Best reason to owe a replica!

E :)

Those guys were taking his word for it too. That is a problem with some people. They will say anything to boost themselves up.
I would be proud to own those ERAs as well. Very nice cars.:)
Hell some people won't drive their replicas. Oh well to each there own. Just don't lie!!!

I saw that too. So, I posted a picture of my SPF with the heading "My SuperFormance garbage". He then posted an apology to SPF owners.

I think he got in way over his head and didn't realize there are a lot of people know these cars better than they know their wives.

Does Ronnie Spain explain the reappearance of the GT40 Bondurant crashed?

I don't have Ronnie Spains book but just to show you how real events can contradict what is in books, I am waiting for one of the two British classic car magazines to come out with the story next month on the puke green
GT40 roadster that Bondie flipped on the Targa. It was thrown away and I wonder if Spain lists it as destroyed.

Now you see it racing in British racing events. How did it go from "destroyed" to being on the track at Goodwood? I am predicting it was "thrown away gently" and after a few decades whoever interrred it dug it up. Or is this a new chassis using the destroyed cars chassis no?

I also am still waiting for someone to narrow down the location of the GT40 7-liter targa that won Sebring in '66. That Ferrari red car was thrown away in a Los Angeles suburb landfill on the orders of Carroll Smith. I think Los Angeles is a kinder place geologically to bury a car than damp Old Blighty so I expect that one to be resurrected as soon as the Shelby employee that was there at the interment can point us in the right direction

Historybuff 07-15-2008 03:33 PM

"Accounted for" doesn't mean what you think it means

Being a fan of the GT40 targa in particular I recall Ronnie Spain
saying the Whitmore/Bondurant GT40 targa in the '65 targa
was destroyed.
Now Spain has seen it found, restored and racing.
So his fomer accounting might have been "is thought to have been
destroyed."

Now I'm awaiting the discovery/disinterment of the Ferrari red 427FE-powered Shelby-entered targa GT40
that won Sebring in '66. I bet Spain lists that as "destroyed" too but
I'm not buying it. I've seen airplanes buried 50 ft. down dug up and flying again and maybe it's not buried that deep ...

So tho I like Ronnie, you have to be careful about words like "destroyed" or "cut up" in the car world. All you need is one piece of the Holy Grail to start your rebuild...
