Dirty GT40 intake

I am a beginner with working on cars, and I have bought a used gt40 intake for my 1990 mustang. It is very dirty and I have been trying to clean it up, but with nothing good coming from it. I don't know what a good way to clean it up would be. Any suggestions? Oh, and money is tight, so I can't send it out and pay to have it done.

You could always paint it with high temp enamel. Simple green works good and is envrironmentally friendly. Carb spary works better and is not too friendly. If it is really bad, you could take a mild scotchbrite disc to it but do not hit the mating surfaces too much. It will make them uneven and the intake will not seal properly. By the way, this forum is for GT40 vehicles not intakes. Maybe a Moderator will move this to shop talk so you will get a better response.

find a shop where you can get it glass bead blasted. We have a local parts store / machine shop that let me blast my small parts for free.
