So, educate me...
Hi-Tech associated with Backdraft? And Superformance is in the same town in South Africa as Backdraft. Is there a link there?
|
There is no link between Hi Tech USA and Backdraft or Superformance. Superformance is built by Hi Tech SA but though they share the same name, there’s no connection.
When Hi Tech SA began to sell their product in the USA, there was already a company using the name Hi Tech here that sold a similar product. So the name Superformance was born for the US market. Larry |
And HiTech in South Africa builds many other cars besides the Superformance cars.

Hi Tech is in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and Backdraft is in Prospecton, South Africa - they are about 600 miles apart (yes, google is your friend)
Not sure how many cars Hi Tech has made, but wiki gives us a good listing of what cars they make ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hi-Tech_Automotive ) |

Hi-Tech Arizona
Hi this group is dedicated to the cars built by the company Tom D’Antonio started in Arizona. These cars are very special and rare. Known for being the most exact recreations ever made. While there may be small batch builds with similar exactness, Hi-Tech stands out in my mind as the pinnacle achievement.
CSX4000 cars have Hi-Tech DNA. Kirkham car owners don’t be hatin’. Your cars are amazing. But Tom D. did something incredibly difficult and should get the recognition he deserves as the Father of the Recreation Cobra. |

Something worth mentioning is the, 'Google is your friend' observation that I have also made from time to time. Increasingly that may not be the case. The reason nearly everything Google offers is free is that access to information and product suppliers is not their real product. Their real product is you and me! They sell information about us, our browsing habits, our search habits, and our buying habits (when and where a purchase is made) along with a more than significant block of data about us, including our viewing habits. Sort of a George Orwell, 1984 dystopian social science fiction kind of behavior. If you want to have a search capability without that sort of behind your back practice of selling your browsing activity/behavior to advertisers, then you can replace the Google search engine in your favorite browser with the DuckDuckGo search engine. They all are available in a pop-down browser selection pane in your browser preferences, similar to the one below; http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...8_13_43_AM.png The other search engines listed all sell some version of your online persona and searching / browsing activity as their primary business. When you look at the size of Google it is not hard to imagine how valuable that data is. The sleeper on the listing is the last entry Ecosia. They say they will protect you and not sell you personal search practices search/viewing activity and data after the fourth day. By and large, the data is stale by then and is not at the top of the data/information parade that firms want buy from Google — so bottom line you are the product, and your browsing practices are being sold by all the browser providers except DuckDuckGo. If you find this sort of behavior from your search engine troubling or offensive (not all of us do) you have the option to select the DuckDuckGo alternative from your browser's search engine listing. Unless you are a tech geek, most of us likely did not know about this kind of stuff. Now you do and you also have easy choices, if this kind of behind-the-scenes activity is an issue that is important to you. |
