Everyone says how accurate these cars are. So could someone tell me did original 427 cars have metal that was cut that looks like a saw blade? You can see what I am asking in one of the pictures in your add. The picture in question is of the suspension tower. I have seen this on other original built type cars including 289 cars. They look to be cut out with maybe a nibbler? i dont think I have seen this on an original car. How was the tower plates and other brackets cut on original cars. Were they stamped or cut on a bandsaw or nibbled ect? Just something I have noticed on cars that have been quoted as being accurate. Thanks just wondering!

Experts correct me if I'm wrong but those stepped cuts are original style. Goes to show you the lengths to create a literal clone Tom D. went to. He deserves much respect and elevated our passion from the common fiberglass bath tub sitting on a cheap square tube ladder frame most manufacturers did and still do to keep cost down. In some respects, cost was not an issue for Tom's Hi-Tech cars. He wanted to create a new class of replica. Paving the way for the Kirkhams and CSX 4K cars that continue to raise the bar. Thanks Jeff for posting the picture. I see they are on the original frame. They dont look as course but they are there. Now it makes me wonder why they are there? I think I have seen them on some leaf spring cars but not sure I have seen them on an original one.

Maybe it was a style of metal cutter they used. Tim Gunning took it over.

Sorry to hear life got in the way of your project. the reason for the edge is the way they manufactured they used to punch and nibbled some of the parts when I originally startedDoing chassis the machine shop next to me had a Tracer punch which follow the pattern then they moved up to cnc punch. when I worked for the old fart I was having the parts maid using a laser. I am now currently building some chassis using a CNC plasma to replicate the originality of the CSX chassis

Thanks Tom for the reply. So when you were making them you tried to replicate the way the original part was made? Meaning if the original part or bracket ect was ruff saw cut punched or nibbled you tried to duplicate the look? Could you tell me if any of the leaf spring cars had parts or brackets ect that looked like the edge of a saw blade that were originally nibbled or punched out? I ask a lot of questions because I am scratch building a daytona coupe. My build is hidden in the scratch builder forum somewhere. I dont have access to any original cobras to see the build details.
