Just bought a 25 year old Hi-Tech kit and need help assembling it

My buddy just bought the kit, but he’s not very internet friendly so I’m helping.

It’s a Cobra kit (427?) that was purchased from Hi-Tech Motorsports in Tempe Arizona, probably around 1999 (?) and never assembled. We want to assemble it, but don’t have any documentation to guide us. What references exist (or ever existed) that can describe how to put this kit together?

I know Hi-Tech went out of business around 2002, but I’m hoping someone on this forum has an old Assembly manual, diagram, or something that could give us a clue, or knows who we should talk to.

You probably need me to be more specific about exactly what kit it is. Can anyone tell where to look on the kit’s parts/frame for identifying numbers or features that will help me positively identify this kit more precisely?

Thanks

Welcome!

Well, the HTM is a great car and there is an HTM forum here and also some builders.

I am sure that you can get the answeres to your questions and also who to avoid.

HTM cars are very similar to the originals, if this is your first time buiulding a Cobra greatest of luck. They are easy cars to make and also difficult in some aspects.

Where are you located?

I’m in San Diego. I’ll look for the HTM forum.

The forum this thread is in is called Hi-Tech Owners / Builders. Are you referring to a different forum when you say there is a “HTM” forum?

C-Rad, is it an aluminum car?

You can explore online archives and databases that store documentation and manuals for various kit cars. Websites like GT40s.com or the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine may have archived versions of Hi-Tech Motorsports' website or other relevant resources that could contain assembly instructions.

It's not much different from building an ERA, CCX, Kirkham or CSX Cobra!
In fact, look for Kirkham builds or people repairing a CSX, while you study a manual from ERA or Contemporary.

Nothin complicated about those cars. Almost self-explanatory as you go along.

John Bessey is very close to you in Escondido.
He should be on your speed dial.
