4160 Accelerator pump question

Stock Holley (4160). In your prayer books, oops I mean the Holley factory instruction sheet, they show TWO nozzle gaskets (ref #117), but I thought i heard that you should only use one. The deepest one. Do you use one or two between the nozzle? I could be hallucinating again. thanx steve

You use both, but they do not touch one another, they go on each side of the nozzle. So, that means: Pump Discharge Nozzle Screw, Gasket, Pump Discharge Nozzle, Gasket... in that order. NOT two gaskets smushed together because two gaskets are better/fatter/nicer than one.;)

Hemostats are good for inserting the nozzle back in -- try and scrounge up a pair. Put a dab of grease on the bottom gasket to hold it on the nozzle and ease the nozzle in. Try not to drop it. Maybe practice once without the gasket on the bottom just to get the hand of easing it in on an angle. Then put a dab of grease on the screw to hold that gasket on it and put that in. Don't worry about the grease clogging things up, it won't. When you're done, count your gaskets. Just like sponges, you don't want to leave one in the patient. All should be accounted for.

Yes, two gaskets Steve, one above and one below the nozzle, as Patrick has said.

A little harder to do on the primary side with a choke plate in the way, but easy enough once you have done it a few times.

Screw, gasket, nozzle, grease, gasket.

Gary
