4160 Question

I was rebuilding my 4160 carb (3310-11) and there is this sticker/gasket over one of the holes in the body of the carb. I had a new replacement in the kit so I pulled it off assuming that the new one would have an adhesive back on it. When I tried to peel what I thought was the backing off I just tore the replacement. I called Holley yesterday and spent an hour on the phone and got nowhere and then was disconnected. So my questions are:what does this thing do? Does anyone know what the part number is? If it's only function is to block off a hole can I just block it off by some other means and move on? I've attached a pic of the hole it was over as well as what the old one looked like resting where it was. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I've never seen that. %/ Try Googling some pics of the 4160, of which there are a zillion, and see if you can either find a pic of it or a pic of the hole that it was covering and post a link to that.

Yes, I thought that's what you would looking for.
That stick-on piece is used on manual choke carbs to seal a manifold vacuum source that is used for automatic choke models.
It comes as a sticky, to help assembly. You can make it yourself, out of a piece of gasket paper, and bond it with a smear of contact adhesive.
The clamping of the manual choke assembly mounting keeps it sealed.

Load the pic to your pic gallery in the CC member galleries and then use the linked image code below the pic to paste into the dialog box you see when you click on the Insert Image icon in the tool bar above the message box you are typing your thread response in. Presto, voilą!

The absolute best, most productive, and wonderful modification you can make to your 4160 is to add a small adjustable set screw to the base of the secondaries (replacing the one that's already there) that will allow you to control your idle via that screw while leaving the primaries perfectly set in the transition slot. Here is a pic of mine and here is a lengthy thread where I help someone get his 4160 absolutely perfect.
