SB100 Sticker picture (location)
Would someone please be so kind as to post OR email me a picture of the SB100 Sticker that is affixed to a cobra replica and tell me exactly where most of them are located/placed on the cars and who fabricates it. I'd like to be able to actually see and read one of those infamous stickers. THANKS!!

Jim,
Up here the BAR referee affixes the sticker after you take him your paper work and he does his stuff. He seems to put them all on the right side of the firewall, and the CHP pop rivits the VIN number they assign. Here they asked the people where they wanted it just as long as it was easily seen. But I have heard of other places putting the stickers and vins in different places. I had a picture of Eriks and was going to put it in this post but now I can't find it so the post is really no good to you. Sorry. Ron :) |
I don't have a picture of mine handy, but when I finished up at the BAR he handed me the sticker and told me to put it anywhere I like as long as I put it on a "permanent" part of the car (rather than on a small removable piece). I affixed it to the body on the inside of the trunk. That way it 1) doesn't clutter up a nice clean engine compartment, 2) it's protected from the weather as well as oil and gas so it doesn't fade or fall off and 3) it's easy to see and read if you know where to look.

Had no choice - it's on the firewall
|
I put mine on the firewall between the puke tank and starter solenoid.
The CHP station I went to accepted the Kirkham vin number on the Data plate. No new plate was attached to the car. Rob |
The BAR guy at the Fullerton College location put my sticker dead center on the firewall ("Where I always put them", he said). But at that point I was just HAPPY to get the sticker. I have thought about cutting out the sticker along with the fiberglass, riviting it to where I wanted it, and patching the firewall hole. But now I'm kinda proud of having that sticker right where it is.

I guess that guy has something against polished aluminum firewalls or something... I've considered a similar fix (i.e. affixing a polished panel over it), but it ain't worth the hassle. It's there, I'm legal and that's all that really matters in the State of Kalifornia. :D -Dean |
I too was handed mine to place wherever I wanted to place it. I chose the door hinge post on passenger side. The Driver door hinge has the VIN number.

On my SPF they put the sticker on the frame right side next to the front wheel. CHP used the original stamped SPF number as the new VIN, no plate or rivits.

Jim,
I had no choice in the sticker location. The guy at the Escondido BAR (office now closed) put it in the middle of the firewall. That is OK, but he put it on crooked. Oh well! At least I have one. As for the CHP (San Diego-Morena Blvd location), they located my VIN plate inside the driver's door on the body and just glued it on. Apparently they had cracked a couple of bodies with rivets and no longer do it that way. Funny place, but again, at least I got it! And they used the Backdraft # as the VIN. |
I'll be in line on Jan 2nd to get a SB100 number for my Coupe - I long for the day that somebody tells me where to stick it!!!:JEKYLHYDE
