points to electronic

hey folks,
im working on restoring a 66 mustang. i have a points style 289 distributor. has anyone used an electronic module to convert the 289 points style to electronic? im looking for something like an HEI controller module that would go inside the distributor. does pertronix make something like that to retrofit? or maybe i'll stay with the points - that way I can drive out of town in the 1966 when the super solar flares hit :P

Buy a rebuilt distributor for a 75-76 302 and swap the internals into your 66 Distributor body, very easy.
You can even add the late syle cap if you want to:

Rick,

Do you have a Ford cross reference part number for that Distributor cap? Does it fit an older 1965 HP289 mechanical advance body? Your picture is telling me yes, but I thought to ask.

Thanks,
Earl J
