Vendor for Distributor cap

I thought this would be easy but....I am wanting a Black Distributor Cap with Brass terminals for an OEM small daimeter 8 cyl Ford distributor with Female towers. (60's push in type). Also need it to have the circular ridges formed inside around the terminals to prevent flashover. I have found some with Aluminum terminals but I really want Brass.
I have looked at Napa's Echlin Brand, it is Brass but doesn't have the circular ridges inside.
Anyone know a specific brand that fills the bill?.

Thanks in advance.

Try Summit racing, they have that Ford style cap brass terms in male and female posts.

Rick, remember this thread? http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-...butor-cap.html If you can't find what you want, just do what I did (before I realized I could buy what I wanted). That cap is still on my car, looks great and runs great.

round off the leading edge of your 'bug' will help also, from the msd book.

I got tired of paying $30 for my MSD cap so I went to NAPA and bought a GM cap which has served me very well for two years now. I think it cost under $10

Clois,

Could you post the NAPA PN?

Rick Parker 02-09-2012 09:18 PM

I believe the GM style cap is what MSD used for their FE distributor.

It was used for their GM distributors. I don't remember the NAPA number but I seem to remember it was made by AC Delco for a 72 Monte Carlo 350 engine.

I found one with the features I wanted from Scott Drake Mustang parts on Ebay. Then I ordered another from a Mustang vendor locally, with the same part number but it was different.......go figure???

4/3/12 Installed it and perfomance appears to be of maginal quality when used with the voltage from an MSD. I guess I will need to look at something else :(
