Ignition

Any suggestions for an ignition box that is the most reliable? Have the MSD Street Fire ignition box that failed after only 3000 easy miles.

When my MSD 6A (analog) box failed I bought a 'Summit Racing® Multi-Spark Digital Capacitive Discharge Ignitions SUM-850610' box, but mounted it behind the dash, rather than in the engine compartment. I'm hoping the cooler environment will allow for a longer life. So far, so good, though I had to significantly change the timing for the new box.
These are supposedly made by MSD in the USA and fully 'burned in' and tested before shipping.

Most CDI boxes die from either heat or voltage spikes. Whichever one you get, put it under the dash and install a MSD 8830 voltage capacitor.

Thanks for the help. I did find the problem (I should've checked this first) the cap and rotor were fried, the pickup inside the cap had melted and there was no contact from the rotor to the cap pickups. The new problem is that the distributor is a Summit PN# 850073, Summit does not make the distributor anymore, the tech at Summit wasn't sure if the replacement distributor's (#850083) cap and rotor would fit the old one. The search is on for a new cap and rotor. AAHHH the saga continues

the 850073 sure looks like an Accel cap....
