Who's building JBLs?
Is anyone building the JBL touring model (new design) that Larry Goins was building? Larry just cancelled my build due to personal issues and I'm left looking for an alternative. Help!
|
that's a bummer. you mean jbl won't build you one? i haven't heard of anyone building them otherwise. i'd be more than happy to help you out but it is a long way to the midwest. good luck.

Just so I am clear, do you have a jbl kit that you wanted built. Or, did you want to buy the kit?

Goins Motorsports, who has built most of the JBL's was building me a turnkey custom touring JBL. The chassis was modified (with Richard's input) to accomodate some of the changes both Larry and I wanted. Larry had a number of problems; moved his business from Montana to Idaho; had a fire in the shop; snowed in and out of his shop; all of which delayed the project for months. Then his father died last month and he now must move to Oklahoma to take over his father's business. Due to these unforseen problem the project has been cancelled and there is nothing but a partly finished chassis to show for it.
Don't get me wrong, Larry is a great guy and would finish the project if he didn't have these personal challenges in his life. I was simply looking to see if there was someone else building the JBL (to Richard's spec) out there that I could talk about building one for me. It doesn't look like it, so I will be moving on to another manufacturer. Mark:CRY: |
Send it to me ,I can finish it up for you.

Mark,
When you say you will be moving on to another manufacturer, does that mean a different kit car company or does that mean a different builder of your JBL chassis? Did you pay for your car from JBL? David |
Yes, I did pay a substantial deposit which is being refunded. However, with only a partially finished chassis there is nothing to build. Therefore I am looking for another replica manufacturer.

There are some pretty decent Kit suppliers on this sight!

Last dime,
Have you thought about doing it yourself? Really the JBL should not be that hard to assemble since it is well engineered. You could find someone local to do it... just need to ensure all of the parts arrive from Dave. The only thought I have is on the design Larry was doing has a few parts he makes and not sure if anyone else makes them Have you spoke to Richard? Good luck... I would hold out for the JBL... mine has been a lot of fun |

JBL/Goins Motorsports new body tooling
In response to the post who is building JBL's.
Mark, things got sorted out faster than I thought possible. So I finished Lastdimes chassis and sold it. Than I was fortunate enough to have a customer let me use his Cobra to make some changes. I closed up the rear wheel wells and added a slight flare. This has been a long standing complaint from customers and potential customers. Cleaned up some body lines and made a smaller hood scoop. I then made new tooling for the body. Also made some changes to the Touring/Street chassis. Stretched the floor pan. Foot box to rear bulkhead 51" and widened the seat area to 20". Proper steering wheel, pedal, and seat placement make this car very comfortable for even the tallest. And thick bodied. No driver fatigue on long trips. We will now be offering a basic or stage I kit for the Touring/Street version for $16,500. JBL Competition models are still available in various stages of completion. I will post some photos of the new tooling and chassis in my gallery GMS. Please feel free to call or email with any questions Larry Goins Goins Motorsports 406-925-1036 larry_goins@q.com |
