stroker 351W for gt40
Keith,
After an unkind encounter with a Porsche GT2 this past weekend, I need a larger margin of safety in the engine compartment. I'm currently running a stroked 302 (330 ci) with dart block, decent heads, and 4x48IDA webers. Dynoed at 360 hp and a nice fat torque curve. I typically drive the car on the street with a little autox and intend to get back on the track (drove 911's alot for years and am missing the speed). I need to stay small block. I would like to keep the deckheight where it is so I can keep my expensive gt40 header system (couple of grand for a new one and it seems increased deck height would result in more acute angles for gt40 style headers). My minimum goal is 500 hp and 375 torque (I want to make sure I beat the per lb ratios for the new Carrera GT too). If I have to go 351w then I'd rather pull out the stops a little more on the goals but might drop the ultimate coolness of an alu block ina gt40. Does the added goal of 10k miles between refreshes and keeping the webers clearly push me to the 351w based motors? Thanks, Chuck Ward Houston, Texas |
Dart block build
We need to bore the Dart out to a large bore and get the cubic inches up on the engine. You did not say what head you were running or the size of the exhaust. This where most Cobra's are killed is with the small exhaust primarys. we would need to get the iches up around 351 and look at the heads and install a solid roller. The Weber carbs may be a restriction unless we get some that are capable to produce 500HP. You may want to give me a call and discuss some options for you. Thanks Keith Craft

Hi Cward, there are a few folks using Darts in their GT40s on our site. Lynn Larsen is one, and there are others. www.gt40s.com

Ron,
I'm over at gt40s.com too (ex-porsche / cward2) but Keith only has a "place" over here. Thanks for the info on the other Dart block users. Chuck |
