Supercharged/Turbocharged/Injected Engines in Cobras?

Do you guys do any in house supercharged/turbocharged/injected FE (or otherwise) setups that would fit and run well in Cobras? What kind of thoughts and ideas would you be able share with us? Many thanks, Mark |
We are working on a stack injection FE right now and may have some results in about 2 months. We are also doing some Vortech supercharged FEs right now as well and we are about ready to go together with them. We are waiting on brackets right now and these will be blown through the carburetor style engines. I will post some results on this as well as soon as we run them. We do a lot of small block that are turbo charged and blown that use fuel injection that make up to 2000HP. The problem may be fitting all this under the hood. The blown FE engines will go under the hood of an early Mustang so they may fit under the hood of a Cobra. This is something that I have wondered as well. Thanks, Keith

Are you doing anything with Webers on FE's? I built a 428 previously with a 48IDA setup. What do you think of this vs. the big four barrels you have been using? Brian Paul |
We have done two FEs recently with webers, one was a 454C.I. and the other a 482C.I. with the 48IDA webers. These engines have to have a smaller camshaft than the regular style carbureted engines. This I believe along with the smaller webers we were running made the engines make about 40 HP less than the 950 carburetors but the torque was silimiar and the engines drive real well in the cars. The 454 engine made 600ft/bls torque and 550HP and the 482 made 570HP and 620ft/lbs torque. The largewr engine having the broader power band but both engines made power up to 6000rpms. We had the 454 engine on the chassi dyno the other day and it made like 500ft/lbs and 460HP at the rear tires through a independent suspension. The customer and ourselves where pretty happy about this. Thanks, Keith

I'm the one with the 454 from Keith. This 454 w/ webers puts out plenty of power for me. I went with a wide ratio 4 speed and 3.08 rear gear. It's very long legged, and pulls hard in every gear. And with the 3.08 it cruises nicely without too many revs in 4th. Pics in my gallery. David |
