Typical Power from 527 Aluminum FE?
What is the typical power from 527 (4.375 bore and stroke) Aluminum FE from Keith Craft?
I'm looking for answers from the owners of these engines.

Keith has estimated that my 427 (482) cast will put out in the area of 630 hp. I am sure that an all aluminum 527 will be putting out at least 700 hp, and as brettco said, "More than you could ever use!" I am trying to get Keith to build mine in the area of 500 - 550. :) Really, in a car that weighs 2,500 lbs, do you honestly think you will be able to use 700+ hp? IMHO

Perhaps my request came out wrong. I was not trying to avoid hearing from Keith. I was trying to avoid hearing people's guesses, that's all. I figured the owners would have dyno data. .
Oh yeah, I'm not looking for max HP, I'm just curious as to where the 527's end up in power. . . |

FWIW, KCR built a 514 motor for me that made 765HP @ 7000, 700lbs @4500. It's an iron block w/ full mechanical roller and TWM stack indcution on top. The design goal was streetable power on pump gas so the cam is mild (112deg lobe centers, 258deg duration @ .050, .738" lift). Runs like a Honda... until you mash the loud peddle. A more agressive cam I'll bet would make 800+HP.

Are these high HP motors typically hydraulic lifters or solid? Is the only draw back from solid lifters the need to adjust valves more often and noise or is there more?

I think (most) anything above 700 hp will require (normally) a solid roller. There are many large cubic inch FEs running out there in the 600+ Hp range (such as mine) that's running hydraulic rollers.

Yes, solid lifter need regular adjustment, about every 1K miles. In addition, they need to be replace every 15K miles or so. Cost is $350 or so in parts.
The main advantage of solid lifter is that you can have steeper cam lobes yielding more HP and turn higher RPM's. I can tell you first hand that a 7800RPM redline on a 9L motor is pretty thrilling.
Starts and idles like a Honda but runs like a scalded dog when prodded...
