Fuel for hi-comp engine
What kind of problems will I run into switching to ethanol from vp110. I know 30% more fuel an carb gaskets. will my carter ele pump survive? Fuel line size. tank coroision. engine gaskets? What all will have to be changed? Ive read all that I can find I need first hand experience.

Alcohol
You will burn about twice as much alcohol as gas in most cases. You need to have a fuel system that will deliver twice as much. The biggest problem with alcohol is leaning the engine out. Make sure your pump is up to the task. You will need a 10 line going up at least with a 6 return line. We like to use a return line after the fuel log so that the engine can get fuel to the bowls quickly. If you have not messed with alcohol before you might want to get some help. You will run a little less timing in most cases. Most guys that are racing run a top lube their fuel to help with the corrosion issues. Do not let it set in the carburetor for very long. If you are not racing or running the engine on a regular bases it is a good idel to drain the fuel and pore some gas into the carburetor. Good luck, Keith Craft

Alcohol for the street isn't too good an idea. It's a real mess that corrodes everything metalic and clogs up jets. You'll need to have a LARGE fuel filter as well. Alcohol seems to have or develop lots of junk in it. You'll have to have a very regular routine of cleaning carb parts often. But, if you don't mind the maintanance, alcohol smels great at a distance, but it will burn your eyes like crazy up close. That's something to think about at a stop light, or even in the garage with the door open. I wrenched on a alcohol sprint car a while back and had to clean the injectors and filter befor every race.
