Penske on a Superformance?
Hi
I have a 2006 Superformance and I was wondering if it would be possible without too much modification to upgrade to the Penske suspension that is used on Kirkhams? I'm looking for a better track set up than the stock SPF set-up and I'm not finding too many options out there. Dave |
Didn't you go to Curt Voight for track set up?

You would have to pull apart the front end of the car
lloyds1 Dave if you are serious about racing the cobra you need to take a hard look at the Morris photos and CSX3710# if he has many. 18-19" wheels, need A-Arms, Whole new wheels with different back spacings. Strong knuckles, and the list goes on for parts, after that it starts with bumpster, camber, caster toe, and thrust angle of the car.
You can put any shock on any car if you have the right clearance and measurements. You might want to start with a set of QA1 shocks with double adjustment. there are 256 settings to start with. They are alot cheaper also. The high the "G" forces you try to pull the more support of the frame is going to be needed to stop twisting. It is real easy to add about 600 pounds for the high speed you may be looking for. A complete belly pan for the botoom of the car to start. Front spoiler and rear wing with a full roll cage welded into the car. Small windshield. Now you have a track car. Rick L. |
Dave,
Randall Thomas at Cobra Valley sells an extensive line of upgrades for the stock SPF suspension, including Heim-jointed thicker sway bars, fully tuned (and rebuildable) shocks and beefier upper shock mounts (a must). You might want to check it out at http://performanceunlimited.com/cobravalley/ Regards, Dean #747 |
Dave,
You do not have to go the extremes Rick has suggested just to make your SPF more fun (and safer) on the track. Olthoff Racing offers lots of performance upgrades specifically for the Superformance Mk III, including custom Bilstein shocks. Check out their website: http://www.olthoffracing.com/index.p...d%20suspension NO ONE knows more about getting the most out of a Superformance than Dennis Olthoff. Give him a call and let him know what you want to accomplish. Steve |

This is the Kirkham Forum.
Now I could move this to the SPF area, but then I figured...why? |
