Cobras and Ice don't mix
This Kirkham was spotted in the workshops of Hawk Cars in the UK.
I believe it is a recent import from the US and the new owner lost control on an icy motorway. "Image removed out of deference to the owner" Paul |
ouch!!.........
|
I never thought that fiberglass could bend and peel back like that.
. |
CobraEd, its not fiberglass aluminum body Kirkham
|
he knows....it was a joke....
|

I didn't realized that aluminum could be polished in such a way that it appeared to be blue with white stripes. :JEKYLHYDE

While these guys are trying to ascertain whether the car is aluminum or fiberglass, hopefully the owner is OK.
Note To Self: Do not drive 90" wheelbase/600 HP/2,100 lb Cobra on icy roads. |
Its Rick Lee old car, could be KMP182.

Yes Ron KMP162 is totally correct!!
|
It also has the billet suspension which is new. The damage although not real severe (far from totalled) appears costly.

Glad it wasn't you..... |
Thanks Jeff.
No, it wasn't me. Mine is tucked up safely in the garage having a few jobs attended to. I've pulled out the rear bulkhead to fix some loose rivets that have been vibrating at certain revs. I've also swapped the nasty self tapping screws that hold the transmission tunnel in place for Rivnuts. I'm surprised KMS don't use Rivnuts in the first place. I'm also addressing a gearbox leak and replacing the cast flywheel with a steel one. Finally, I hope to get the interior carpeted and a tonneau cover made. I need to get the Cobra finished and out of the way so I can do some work on my Vincent before spring truely arrives. It is the Le Mans Classic this year and I'll be going again in the Cobra, so really looking forward to that. Regards, Paul |
Paul, Do they still do the Coventry-Stratford run? I used to live in Warwick and drove a 280 SL a couple of years in that event. Still felt like it was one of the most fun things you could do in a car with your clothes on.
Jim Stern |
Hi Jim,
I don't honestly know. I'll have to look into that one. The VMCC organise a Coventry to Brighton run each year in late April, which I've done for the last couple of years on my Vincent. Regards, Paul |
Is that a real crash or a replica of a crash?
