I haven't been that active on CC lately but isnt this a stupid cheap/good price from a well know CC member for a Kirkham . Somebody is going to get a deal . Does this mean the second hit of the recession is real ?

Unfortunately, this is just like Mr. Mustang's car (meaning Ron is going to have to find somebody who wants this exact car). No, you could not build this car for the asking price, and in that regard, it is a bargain. The tough part is that for guys that are comfortable with dropping $70k on a toy, a lot of them are going to want a toy that is exactly what they want and, preferably, one that has never been driven by anyone but them. If you're willing to drop $70k on something that just sits around 99% of the time, you're usually willing, and able, to drop more. That said, it is a very nice deal for a beautiful car.

Great point , once you get to that number , I guess why not spend 20k more to be sure its what you want

I'd have to agree, but...

A brand new 289 FIA roller from Kirkham is $62,000 in file finish, but has the aluminum Kirkham rear end. The polished finish is $10K. With a little negotiation, it could be nice deal for someone out there.

It would make a nice track car for me. :D

Would the stock,....289 hurt ?
Beautiful car.

I actually think that a period correct 289 is an asset, but I'd probably want to add webbers to finish it off. That way I could spend all my spare time tuning them.

FUNFER2 06-03-2010 01:13 PM

Yep, that's why I said stock. In a kirkham, .....that just ain't right. ;)

rustyBob 06-03-2010 04:02 PM

With the fact that there are so many used cars on the market why buy a new one when you can wheel and deal on a used one....if i where in the market to get one now it would be a used one for sure....maybe even a Kirkham.

1985 CCX 06-03-2010 04:36 PM

I would love this car however I would adorn it with paint....

If I had the funds, it would be sold. It is alot for a toy but will make some lucky member a great car! :D

henryr 06-03-2010 05:38 PM

what is involved with "de" polishing the finish ?

kgs365 06-03-2010 06:27 PM

de polish ...should be as easy as a scotch pading it into a brushed finish...sounds easy...i'm sure there are tricks

lovehamr 06-03-2010 08:57 PM

A few Kirkham owners have changed their "state of shine" around several times just to see what they like best or for the hell of it. Compared to striping and painting a car it actually sounds fun......though quite dirty! LOL

Yeah, I would paint it also. I like the polished/brushed body but it's not for me.
Great price though.

what are the plus / minus's on this car ? ( i dont know sh8t)

what exactly is a stock 289 ?

i remember about two years ago, paul @ autokennel had a really nice 289 car that barely soldfor 74k. tons of options....

big-boss 06-04-2010 12:44 PM

Damn nice car, I have seen it in action. The headers are artwork. Surprised Ron is getting rid of it- but how amny Kirkhams can a man drive? He still has the 427.
