Resto
Good to see you elected to carry on with this great project. The finished product will be fantastic, keep up the good work.

I am hoping it is just the angle of the photo, but it would appear in the photo of the slave cylinder that you have a sever mis alignment of the push rod, which if true can cause ongoing problems.

Just trying to help

It is curved in towards the arm a bit. That was the best i could do. If i had set the arm out any further, it would have been too far off the throwout bearing. I will call the Kirkhams and see what they think.

You know how they say it is the little things that add up and are the costs that you forget to include in the budget??? I just placed a 700.00 order for fuel lines, fittings, and filters. OUCH!

RestoCreations 04-16-2011 03:32 PM

Fuel pump and pre filter installed.

Any suggestions on which side of the frame rail i should run the fuel lines on. Obviously i do not want to run the fuel line next to the battery cable, but i could still run it on the inside of the passenger rail. Im getting a little confused on where to cross the line over if i want to run them on the drivers side 4" tube. I dont really want the lines just hanging down at the bottom of the frame rail, not that i would every plan on it bottoming out there. If it did, i would probably have much larger problems.

Oil lines finished. I am not running a oil cooler. I just really dont see it being necessary for the street. If you are running braided stainless lines spend the 20 bucks on the snips from summit. I used to cut them with a die grinder, but it made a mess and the smell of the burning rubber hose was terrible, even with a nice mask on. Not to mention, it takes a lot longer and you must use tape. With the snips, i simply cut, slather the line and fitting with oil, slide the fitting in place and screw the other half in place

This is a bit of an ugly picture. I was seeing if the Shelby shifter i had left over from a mustang build was going to work and surprisingly, it appears it is going to be in just about the right spot.

Ok, i am going back to the garage to measure the run out on the bellhousing.

Thanks to Brent at B2Kmotorsports for hooking me up with a very nice starter.

Im in a holding pattern with the engine and transmission now until the offset dowels arrive.

The fuel line goes up from the pump, over the front of the diff and down the driver's side chassis rail.

Thank you. After staring at it for a while last night, i figured that must be the only way to do it.

I would take a serious look into that pivot point on that clutch throw-out arm. It needs to contact that bearing right near center and should be passing over center as you step on the pedal or you will be applying force at an odd angle and wear out the bearing in short order.

Here's the page with pictures from the Kirkham assembly manual.

Hope that helps

RestoCreations 04-18-2011 06:03 PM

I have been using the kirkham assembly manual a good bit. However, that bellhousing and clutch fork arm are entirely different. I used the template that kirkham sent me to drill the hole, but i did have to eyeball it a bit because the template did not seem to be exact.. Its not finished, but i appreciate the concern.

Racer_X 04-29-2011 08:31 PM

what clutch fork and slave cylinder is that? I'd like that setup for mine.

Has anyone heard from Restocreations in the last few days??

He is in Birmingham, AL...............let's just pray he survived the tornado that rolled through there earlier this week.

mln385 04-30-2011 09:53 AM

Ya that thing was nasty!!! We where in Bowling Green KY. when it hit! The weather for the whole are was unbeleivable... Hope you made it through unscathed and just out of communiction do to the storm.

RestoCreations 05-03-2011 05:12 PM

hi guys! None of my family sustained any damage to our properties, but more importantly, none of us were hurt. Its going to take a long time for some of the areas to recover and a massive amount of lives were lost. I think the total will be up to about 400 dead by the end of everything. I watched the tornado roll passed downtown Birmingham. It was huge-a mile wide they say with winds around 200mph.
Thanks for checking in. We are very blessed. I have never seen brick buildings turned to rubble.

The car will be progressing as soon as i can figure out the darn bellhousing alignment. However, it might be a little slow because i am going to try to volunteer my time on the weekends. These people are going to need help for a very long time.

It's officially official with plate and registration in hand. Car is now registered as a 1965 Kirkham Cobra.

Congrats! That is awesome. Motor in the car yet?

RestoCreations 05-08-2011 09:59 PM

Not yet, but hopefully by tomorrow night. I just realized that the boom on the engine hoist i have will not be long enough to lower the engine and trans into the car. So, i will have to tackle it from the side or borrow my fathers front end loader.
