My car is reading a little low on the voltage with the engine running.
What are you guys running? Mine is around 12.5

If it's showing the same voltage with the engine off, at idle and revved to 2,000 RPM, you have a problem. Mine shows 14-15 volts while cruising at 2,400 RPM.

In addition to the above, try switching on and off your aux fan and see if it changes. It might not be a steady state difference but you should see the step. If not, yep, problem.

How about just turn up the idle speed a tiny bit?

If you don't have a 3rd gen Ford alternator, get one...

12.5 with 3 fans and two blowers on. 14.5 with nothing on. I had a problem where it stopped charging and after 3 regulators and 2 alternators, something told me that these were not the problem. We tightened a bunch of wire connections (like battery, starter, etc) and the problem went away. Of course we traced wires, etc and it took 3 weeks, but it ended up being one of those. we also replated the starter "lug" with all the wires going into it.
It took 3 weeks, but it looks like it was just lose wires |
