Quickjack as tow points
I noticed that the Kirkham on the rotisserie at the open house was suspended by the quickjack mounting points.
Has anyone towed a Kirkham by the quick jacks?
I was told not to use them.

I have seen tow loops added to the quick jacks. They're plenty strong enough for towing.

Last summer , we had to use my quickjacks on the front to pull my ERA onto the rollback when there wasn`t enough room to get the cable under the car without hitting the body work due to the angle on the bed . In tension , they were plenty strong enough .... and the pull was uphill .

I have seen them on the rotisserie as well but remember that is just the frame and body, not much else.

I have used both front and rear quick-jacks to raise the car as it is difficult to initially get a (I have a low profile racing style alum. jack) jack under the car. I checked the quick-jack construction and it is both functional and sturdy. Much quicker to lift entire front or rear than side to side. I do this with a jack under each pad lifting simultaneously then position the stands. It is a CSX4K and I believe Kirks are nearly identical, true to design and function.
Enyone ever use or even see one of the fulcrum lifts the jack pads were designed for?

Well it seems that another CSX4000 owner had used them successfully. He had a fiberglass body car.

Still I'm almost certain that Kirkham discourages jacking their cars with the quick jacks.
And reading between the lines here, it sounds like Kirkham also discourages towing their cars by them. |

I've heard that raising the car with the quick jacks can cause the rods to bend and end up with stress on the body. Mine has some rather substantial rubber grommets around them. I can easily get a floor jack under all 4 corners so I'm not willing to tempt fate. (And raising either front or rear from one side gets the other side high enough to get floor jacks under.
