Kirkham Owners Where Art Thou?

Haven't seen a post in the Kirkham section since back in August. Everyone must be busy driving. I know I have been.

I have had my car for about 6 months now and have learned a few things:

- It drives terrific - especially when you push it a bit at speed. Understeer disappears and the car transitions to a very neutral feel esp with a half tank of fuel or less. I think mine needs a bit more caster though

- The limits are pretty high with the Avons. Takes a heavy foot on the throttle to break them loose even in a corner.

- The polished sections of the car are the easiest to take care of.

- Most often asked questions 1) is that a wrap? and 2) is that chrome?

- Dont run more than about 23-24 psi in the tires unless you want to lose your fillings.

- The most likely car to attempt to "test" you is a slammed Honda with a fart can. Everyone else seems to keep their distance

- The aluminum scratches very easily but polishes out very easily also.

- Folks over 60-65 adore this car. I drove thru the Sun City retirement community two weekends ago and I felt like a hero in a parade. Shouts, fist pumps and one lady in her 70's who literally ran up to me when I was stopped yelling that she Loved Cobras (she was driving an MG TD)

- The sound of a big FE at 6k rpm is a narcotic. And it is addictive.

- Did I mention that it drives terrific?

David and his team are magicians....

Pushed it back out of my garage at about 6:00 this am (I always push it out so I don't rattle the walls). It was about 60 outside and low 80's inside my garage and when the car hit the cool air you could hear this little tinking sound as the aluminum skin contracted. Something about that...like the car waking up.

We need video! Glad to hear you're out enjoying it.

Don't worry, we are all doing well here at Kirkham Motorsports. Working many new projects. We are about to pull our 10th Daytona Coupe chassis off the jig table, and we have a few bronze snakes in the works! Constantly busy but loving this warm weather!

I am constantly enjoying mine. No regrets, just thankful I was able to get one!

I'd love to see some more You Tube videos put up by Kirkham.

TimG427, we are working on it. Brainstorming new ideas that we think people would like to see! I think we are planning on one about our differentials and how they all go together. But we have many projects in the works and many cars in containers. Two bronze snakes here in the shop and Daytona Coupes in production!

Thank you so much. I have CSX 4322 with a Kirkham body.

I think I may have posted this before, but it seemed appropriate to post it again in this thread. It is a video I shot of us going down from the St Gotthard pass in Switzerland during a 2,500 mile tour we did down into Tuscany and back.

Paul I did see that. It looks spectacular! I am especially envious given that it's like 116F here now so can't hardly drive without cooking!

FatBoy 06-25-2017 12:18 AM

That is too hot for me. It's been around 90F here for the past week or so and that's been hot enough, but you have a dryer heat over there. It tend to get very heavy here after a while and we then need a good downpour to clear the air.
We're going to Spain in September and the jury is still out on whether we'll take the Cobra or the Dino.
