Polish for aluminum, bronze or copper bodied Kirkham Cobras
I've been struggling with the best polish to use on my bronze Kirkham Cobra. It needs to be polished about every 60 to 90 days at a bare minimum. When I was at the MCCAN show in Chicago last November a fellow was demonstrating a polish called Metal Gloss Master Formula. I've used many different types of polish on the body of my Kirkham and this one doesn't make it shine any more than others, but it doesn't leave streaks or buff marks like other polishes. It's still labor intensive to polish the car, but the results are the best I've encountered. I'm not a dealer, just a consumer. If others have had success with a particular polish, let me know.

Tim, I've tried every metal polish known to man ;) No just for wheels (My car friends say I have a Wheel Fetish :)), or Alum. pieces on the cars, but I also collect vintage stereos from the 70's (Wattages wars) all have alum. faceplates, and knobs, that have lettering that was painted (Stenciled) on, if you cut though the lettering you just made a high-end piece into nothing more than a garage stereo, I have pieces that run into the thousands of dollars for just one piece, so no mistakes on polishing the faces. There is one and only one metal polish i use. (Blue Magic metal polish) Smells to high heaven, but will not cut though the lettering, if used properly. small amounts, small areas at a time. I don't know if it's the 15 year old Irish Whisky that a friend gave me for Christmas talking, but I really would love to see if Hawk Cars could take the front end of the Cobra, which is the Ace 2.6 add wheel well arches from the Cobra and longer boot of the Ace 2.0, which was the same as the Ace 2.6 and relocated filler cap and with the inboard rear brakes, plus 160 Mercedes Gullwing speedo, and voila CSX2000! And then have one of those fiberglass coaters do the various shades of aluminum? Shelby hand lettered front and back, would that be cool? Right now I can dream, since I am still looking for a garage, I mean house! I have my old realter, who now lives in Washington state, looking for a builder that is not married to the idea of a McMansion! Still Dreaming, Dennis

Tom, I've got Blue Magic also and have used it lots. It tends to leave buff marks on a big surface like a car. I use it on small items and it works great. The Master Formula actually takes a bit more muscle, but leaves no marks on the car.

Tim, the trick I found with Blue Magic, is never let it dry, keep working it till you're ready for the first (Micro-fiber) towel, the better it works, and then always use a second one, or even a third, that will keep the buff marks from forming. Last Thur. while changing fluids. I spent 5-mins on each wheel, quick wipe on, quick wipe off, the results are stunning. I've been asked (Porsche Owners ;)) if they were chromed, nope just polished. Using a bluffer is not good idea as it dry's the polish with the heat generated, far too quickly. Again Tim, just my 2-cents :) Did the Scarab go to a good home ?? Cheers Tom.

Tom, thank you for the tips. The good news is I get to try out new methods ever few months because that's how often I need to polish the bronze car......
