Excaliber,
You are correct - TONS of Cobras for sale at this moment. Lots of Cobras selling - but it seems to ME that price is NOT the biggest issue at the present time. Lots of guys have dropped the $$ of their cars to $5K or more under market value - but the cars are still sitting. IMHO buyers are looking for EXACTLY the car they want. For someone in the $70K price range this car is a great deal. Kirkham with 427SO is a NICE piece. |
I tried e-mailing the gent about it to get info on the engine and bits and pieces, but he won't respond to e-mail and lists no telephone. What I was kinda getting at is I don't think he's interested in selling so much as trolling the waters to see what the market looks like. I've e-mailed him twice, and nothing. Oh, well. I'll go back to patiently waiting.

I can attest that it is a VERY nice car-
It is the VERY FIRST car to have the brushed body polished stripes combo. The owner wanted somthing a bit more for his car and Matt, one of the most talented at KMS came up with this idea- Jamo and many others are currently awainting car with similar polished and brushed comboes. |
How are those stripes put on? Is it some sort of paint? It looks almost like a super thinned out black was used. Whats the trick?
|
Kris,,,easy, there are simply "polished" on the car. You've seen pics of the entire car polished to brilliant shine I would think. So, what if you just "taped off" the stripe area and polished that? Well, there you go!
As David K. has mentioned in the past, it's easier said than done. Were talking about some serious hand labor here!!! Ernie |
It doesn't look polished to me Big Ern, It looks like a different shade to the aluminum. However, I am a novice to working aluminum. :)
It is a sweet car, and I hope somebody scores on it! :MECOOL: |
I know what you mean, that threw me off too. I think it's a trick of the light and shading in the pic. I'd bet it's the classic polish as the add mentions it is a BNL car (bare naked lady).

It's a Polish thing.....
Heres a closeup of the one of the pics on e-bay. Reduced to 40K size to post here.
Hey, if you go punch out a policeman they might put you in prison and then you will get to polish one? Ernie:LOL: |
Something else about the pictures I noticed. Where are the twin cooling fans in front of the radiator. I thought that was a standard on the originals.
|
Why would anyone buy a Kirkham off Ebay? That's just crazy!:JEKYLHYDE
|
,,,sneaky,,,,,,
What???? Why wouldn't a guy buy one from e-bay if the price is right???? If your "in the market" you'd be crazy NOT to.
Ernie Hey, wait a minute, I was just reminded that Southernfriedchainjerker DID buy a car on e-bay. You set me up with that e-bay question,,,you,,,you,,,,,southernfriedturkey. |

besides who wants to work the body back into shape if you lose one of those front mounted fan blades and it goes through the nose? not me! |
G-I-M-V
Street cars had them because, it was thought, they would over heat if they didn't keep moving. The feeling now is the pusher fans were unneeded and inefficient. Now most people use a more efficient "puller fan" mounted behind the radiator, if they find their cobra runs hot. The comp cars (from what I've read) never had them. :3DSMILE: pk |
Bid Ern was strippin' off line so.....
.....quick the reel was singin'. I was just getting ready to set the hook when I saw the edit.:3DSMILE:
|
..the one that got away....
Ha HA! I thought so!! You were trolling,,,,,,
Well, Casaleenie had my back side covered and reminded me of what I'd forgot. HA!!! SO your little plan was foiled. Hooorah!! Ernie |
Southernfriedcj,
Sorry SF but I was Ernie's wing man yesterday and I saw that one coming out of the sun.... al:cool: |
Hi. I am the owner of the car for sale on ebay. Sorry but I hadn't really ever heard of the club before, and was recently informed by a friend that several of you had questions here. I'd like to answer any questions you may have. I am serious about selling the car, and due to some financial circumstances, I need to sell it as soon as I can assuming the price is fair. I'm excited about having joined club cobra, and please let me know if any of you do have any further questions about the car. I know the auction is coming to a close, so I'll try to respond quickly.
Thanks, rks911 |
RKS911,
Welcome to the Club! I am sure you will enjoy it! Your car is beautiful and should do well. I am sorry that you are having to part with it. Good luck, Regards, Keith:) :) |
Did not get an offer at $71k. Bummer. That was a good price. Too bad I have one on order, or else I would have been very interested. Could have saved a lot.
|
Wow- what a shame. It looks like a sweet ride.
Regards, Keith |
