BTW if you do decide to use the duel pump method..... Mech and Elect....... You need to add a check valve in the tee output of the mech pump.... so it doesn't lose pressure pumping to the carb and back to the electric pump at the same time.... Glad to see you're on your way..... Morris |

It may have also been sparked (bad word) by a thread over at Gasholes where I asked Pat to make me a cover to go around the pump/filter so my stuff wouldn't go banging into it...something we noticed during the Monterey Historics last year when we filled the trunk. The Original Gashole made a nice arruminum thingy that attaches in front of and behind the pump/filter against the side panel, and has holes for observation/ventalation. Two screws hold it. I've yet to install it semi-permanently due to laziness and a desire to install quick release fasteners, but it'll work like a charm by all appearances. When Little Davey saw it, he noted the same thing you referred to. Nice thing is it's easy removal. Probably best to move the whole affair outside the trunk in the final analysis. Not everything from the 60s was necessarily a good idea.;) |

Just to chime in: David K says that he recommends that no fuel lines/pumps/filters be in the trunk. On the race cars there was never anything in the trunk. On these cars, people actually put stuff in there that could bang against hthe fuel mechanicals. That stuff does look cool when you open the trunk, but I think David K's reasoning makes sense.

Brent,yes my pump is outside under the car.I like this setup better and it makes sence to keep it outside.I am putting in my aluminum differential today so hopefully I will not booger up something up under there. chuck

The only way this is a bad idea is if you carry bowling balls loose in the trunk - :) - soft luggage ain't gonna hurt anything. Next thing you know, anything with more than 300HP isn't going to be recommended either..... These are Cobra replica's for darns sake! I'm not in love with the idea of sitting at a light with 40 gallons of race fuel behind me in a non fuel cell type tank either, but I am sure I will take it into consideration when I drive it. I have been practicing my vehicle exits lately - the life I save may be my own. Then again, Masten Gregory has always been a hero.... :) |

So, it is outside and low near the rear housing as far as I could tell and fully plumbed. Just an oversight on my part. :)
Bled the brakes today and scooted the thing up the driveway a bit and let her roll...She stopped...Had my hand on the ebrake just in case. |
It's hard to argue with you Pat; 454 cubic inches,570 HP,2200 lbs,butt 8 inches off the ground,head at SUV bumper level,no air bag no side protection,but my fuel pump is mounted outside the trunk so I can sleep good tonight. chuck
