KMP Hybrids(or 427's) with small blocks....
Are there any KMP Hybrid(or 427) owners running small blocks? If so, what did you use for motor mounts, headers, and exhaust systems(mufflers & pipes)?
How many Hybrid cars are out there(or in here)? Jim |

I have KMP296 an FIA Hybrid w/ stainless chassis. I did not do the completion(finishing work) on it...above my automotive abilities fro now. I have a 351W in mine. The Kirkhams had to machine special motor mount adapters to accept a small block. Also the headers and pipes had to be custom as the standard small block headers will not work with how the engine sits in the chassis. The headers and pipes really cost some $$$ but they do look great.

Stu, great looking car.
I'm curious though, what's the ground clearance on those pipes? They look pretty low unless it's just the angle of the photo. |
3 1/2 inches at the lowest point. I have adjustable coilvers so I could get them and the car up a little more. I like the look of the under car pipe that flares out infront of the rear wheels.

Stu, did KMP do the exhaust fab work and the engine install? Can you post header and motor mount pics?
TIA, Jim |
Kirkham machined the special motor mount adapters and judging from my Conversations w/ David, it was not easy. The finishing work was done by HRE on Long Island. Bill Andrews has one of the largest experiences w/ Shelby's and he also did my CSX. He is a perfectionist. The car actually arrived sans mounts and Billy did not know that until he tried to put the 351W in. Anyway, quickly realized the correct mounts were needed and it was really just an oversight by Kirkham that the mounts were not sent w/ the car. The exhaust fabrication was done by a company on Long Island and because of the 351 on a 427 chassis it took some doing and more $$$ than I would have liked. I will try to get pics of the mounts and headers but I am pressed for time as we are going away for vacation.

Stu,
Thanks for the kind words. Jim, We now have the mounts in stock, but they were a bear to engineer. We make them out of a solid brick of aluminum. (We like to do that.) David:) :) :) |
Thanks for the reply David, I didn't see it earlier or I would known you had the mounts when I called.:JEKYLHYDE
Surely Stu and I aren't the only KMP "427 framed" small block car owners on CC(of course, eagles don't flock ;) )? |
