Kirkham Potential Differential Problem
Gents:
It has come to our attention there are 3 differentials we sold quite some time ago that are pumping differential lube into the transmission if you are using the "TEE" vent line set up on the transmission which runs to the puke tank as it did on the original cars. The odds of you having a problem are quite remote, but we have, nonetheless, modified our current differentials to completely resolve the problem. We have manufactured hundreds of these differentials with no problems. We have several of our cars out there with many, many thousands of hard miles, (mine and Thomas' included) with the exact same set-up and we have never experienced a problem. However, we encourage all of you to check your differential lube levels as a precaution. The lube level on the differential should be about 1 inch lower than the fill hole. I realize this is not the normally accepted procedure, but they are currently the only differential rear cover plates that are available. The original cover plates with the fill hole in the lower location are not available. We have made a modified new rear differential cover plate for ANY of our customers who may be experiencing a problem and will supply it free of charge to those who want one. Please let us know if you have a problem and we would be happy to help out! David:):):) |
This is a very specific thread about a very specific issue. This only concerns Kirkham...NO other manufacturer.
This is not an invitation to complain...it is an inquiry and a notice from one manufacturer to its customers. It will stay here for awhile, and then it will be moved to the Kirkham area. Keep it on track, non-argumentative and apolitical. If you've got nothing to add that is helpful, go to a different thread. Thanks for your cooperation. |
