Hey, David!

Hope you don't mind a couple of wacky questions.
I,ve read the polishing procedure described on your site. Assuming the thickness of material used is .060", [guess?] about how much material is removed in full polish [not Polish} mode? Does the skin "work harden" or become brittle? Will it dent-repair as an unpolished car or need heat annealing?
Also - on a car painted with conventional primers and two-stage color, approximately how much weight is added to the car?
Sorry for the anal questions but I've never thought about this stuff with fiberglass...
Thanks,

ERA,

The material is 1.5 millimeters or about 0.060"

I do not know exactly how much material is removed. I would imagine 10-20% during a full polish job.

The polishing does not make the material brittle. The skin will work harden, like any metal, if it is cold-worked. Our bodies work harden when we make them.

I have no idea how much weight is added to a car when it is painted.

I don't know exactly how much a gallon of paint weighs...but assuming it's around the weight of water or gasoline (in reality it's probably heavier), it's about 8 lbs per gallon.

Let's be on the heavy side and say that a Cobra takes a gallon of primer, a gallon of base coat, and a gallon of clear. That would be 24 pounds.....

But that doesn't account for overspray and pot waste or what is removed during color sanding and buffing....But in a 2k lb. car with a 427...Who really cares?!?!?!? **)

I imagine 1/2 gets sanded, buffed, or blocked off in one way or another.

Maybe 10-12 pounds??? I think I could loose more weight at Weight Watchers.

David :):):)
