Racetrack in Utah

Utah is finally getting a race track. The track is being built by Larry Miller the owner of the Utah Jazz basketball team and a huge Shelby Cobra collector.

"Utah is finally getting a race track."

Gee Thomas, I thought you guys had one of the oldest and BEST tracks in north west Utah, outside that little town called Wendover.

Mike,

You are right. I should have said paved track.

BTW what class would we be in with a 260?

dynoroom 02-07-2005 09:53 AM

That would be "E", the record in GT is 183 in Mod. Sports it's 202

Is the D@#N thing going to be open for racing on SUNDAYS and can you buy a beer???

Trevor Legate 02-07-2005 10:56 AM

Now I know why I took a liking to Mr. Miller when I met him at Goodwood!

And please do not feel embarrassed to invite me to test your cars at this excellent facility - I would not be insulted.....

Tom

This is Great....the track looks like a handling track as opposed to a high speed track ..... which is good for Cobra's ...... because they won't be going that fast...(under 165mph)......lot's of small drag races from corner to corner..... and lots of driving going on..... suspension....suspension.....suspension.....

Getting in on the ground floor is always good.....and will enhance your product that you make.....

Let me know if we can help.... we've spent many years running around race track around the country and can help others that want to "Get smooth to Go fast"

Utah Race Track

I have worked with Larry Miller for 25 years and he is a real enthusiast when it comes to Cobras. Last count I believe was 16 Originals! He is the one that got me excited about Cobras in the first place with a ride in his blue and white 427!! Talk about acceleration! What a beast!
He is very excited about this new racetrack venture and ground work is underway as I type this and hopefully will open in August of this year. I spoke with him a few months ago and he told me that he hopes that I can have fun and enjoy this new track!! I will keep all posted as to progress!!

Hi just got this email. Thought I would share it with everyone who did not get it.

Dear Motorsports Enthusiast,

I’ve received many e-mails and calls of support from people who are as excited as I am about the development of Miller Motorsports Park. It is very gratifying for me to see the enthusiasm and interest in this project build as people get the word that we really are building a world-class race track right here in Utah.

We’ve been moving fast on this project, and we took a significant step forward with a groundbreaking ceremony on April 27, 2005. The cold rain did not seem to dampen any spirits. I even heard one enthusiast say that rain at a groundbreaking is a sign of good luck. I think he made that up on the spot, but it sounds good to me.

I am extremely pleased that Alan Wilson, a world-renowned track designer, has accepted the position of General Manager of Miller Motorsports Park. Alan will continue to manage Wilson Motorsport, Inc., his design and consulting business, from Denver for the time being, but he will be spending a greater amount of time in Salt Lake City as we build the track and develop plans. Alan has designed many of the major road courses in the U.S. and overseas. He brings with him vast experience in race operations and tremendous credibility in the motorsports world.

Many of you have expressed interest in garage rentals, memberships, being a corner worker, volunteering, etc. We’re working on those plans now. We hope to include as many people as possible - as racers, fans, or volunteers – in Miller Motorsports Park. One of the key elements of this is to bring together racing enthusiasts from all over Utah, the Western U.S., and beyond.

Please take a look at our Web site – www.millermotorsportspark.com – for an overview of the track. First and foremost, this track is for the racers, their friends and families. I hope to see you on the track or out at the park in September.

If you have any questions or comments about the Miller Motorsports Park development, please contact my administrative assistant, Kristie Marshall, at kmarshall@lhm.com, or Carolyn Ashburn, Special Projects, at cashburn@lhm.com.

Sincerely,

Larry H. Miller
