On the Pipe!

OK, on go the SIDEPIPES, you crackheads.

Just wondering how most of you (non-crackheads) positioned your pipes...ie, parallel to the ground, parallel to the bottom edge of the body, somewhere in between? Perfectly horizontal, with a level. Eyeballed it and said "looks good to me."

I'm only going to do this once, and want it to look "right." Any suggestions appreciated.

Ron just look at it from several angles, front, side. If you are satisfied visually that's all that counts.

Ron,

I positioned mine to be parallel to the bottom edge of the car. Besides, I don't think you would want parallel to the ground because your ride height could be different at the front compared to the rear. Then if you ever change the car's setup/ride height, then the pipes would no longer be parallel.

Hot427,

Parallel to the bottom edge of the car is what I was planning. I've seen some that looked like the pipes needed a little Viagra, and I didn't want that look. But I was afraid of ending up with the dreaded "perky pipes." The real problem for me is that my garage space is limited, so it is hard to stand back and eyeball it. I can't roll it out of the garage because the driveway has a slope. So, I thought that the best way to get the pipe to look right was with an abjective measurement rather than subjectively putting them where they look good from 3 feet away.

Did anyone else use this guideline?

Thanks.

Put the pipe up on blocks next to the car and adjust as necessary to get the look you want. I put mine so the mounting bracket on the rear of the pipe is basically parallel to the ground. This holds the pipe even with the side of the body.
