GT40 wheels on a Kirkham

I would like to buy a second set of wheels for my 427 S/C Kirkham. For variety's sake, I'd like something a little different than the 427 S/C Trigo wheels that came with my Kirkham (I hate the grey finish that Trigo uses). I have the thicker front brake rotors (1.250 inch thick). The Trigo 427 S/C wheels fit up front, but the Trigo FIA wheels do not (at least not without a spacer). Does anyone know if the PS Engineering GT40 or BRM wheels will fit (without a spacer) on the thicker rotor KMPs? Does anyone know the dimensions of the Trigo 427 S/C wheel so that I could provide them to Phil Schmidt? (my car is not at my house at this time, so I cannot measure them myself.)

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

I ended up with Trigo's on the front and PSE wheels on the rear. I provided Phil with the exact backspace that I needed and everything fit perfect. If you know the backspace for the Trigo, just add or deduct to give you the desired backsapce and give Phil a call. He was very easy to work with and the rear rims cost me about $800. Let me know if you need any more info.

I believe the Trigos are 3 1/2" backspace all the way around.

You might give Vintage Wheels a call or check the site. They have the 15" BRM's in stock most of the time and are very easy to work with.

3 3/4", based on the measurements I performed yesterday afternoon. ;)
Front width is 7.5", rears are 9.5".

Hey 351-EM, can you post a recent pic of your combo (Trigo front, PSE rear)? Would love to see how it looks.

Lew, do what I did and re-paint the centers. After a good cleaning, scuff them with a Scotchbrite pad, spend a couple hours masking them off real good and hit them with a spray bomb urethane-based paint of your choice. Easy stuff.

I've just bought a set GT 40 wheels NOS for my Kirkham. They are the next five weeks on the ocean to Germany. I will keep you informed about the fitting. I had the same experiance on my car with the FIA wheels from Trigo. I use Phils 7,5 x15 on the front and I also have the big vented brake with Wilwood callipers.
