lineslinger,

Polished, of course!

I didn't know anyone would be interested. I will start posting some pictures! The machine is about 100,000 pounds. It will be a real trick to get it into the building. I can't wait to see it put together. The machine is HUGE!

What brand is your new five axis machining center? We have three five
axis Mazaks at our shop. Would love to see pictures of your new machine.
Good luck with your block project! I know how much work is involved in
a project of this magnitude!!

Gerry,

The mill is a Sunstrand 5 axis mill. The travels are 48 X 65 X 66. 66 inches of Z! The A axis is +/- 150 degrees, B axis is 360 degrees.

We got it with a pallet changer. The work involved with this project grows everyday!

We pulled it out of a Naval research center. They said it held 0.0001 inches in all axis. We are really happy with the machine. It is built like a tank.

It came to us on 3 semi trucks. The picture here is of the main column which arrived on the last truck this morning!

It is a horizontal mill so the "Z" axis is sticking straight up right now in this picture. When it is assembled, the "Z" axis will stick straight out at you (we will stand this monster up on end).

The man in the picture "Sandwich" gives you some sense of the scale of this baby.

David

Dean,

Machines for "special devices" aren't nearly this big!

(At least for the action part).
