Kirkham question

I was wondering if anyone here has an ERA with the entire polished body? I was looking at the ERA website the other dy and the polished body looks stunning! I bet it would be difficult to keep polished.

What about driving in the car? I would imagine the glare can be brutal!

If you have one, please post pictures...thanks!

{search}ERA

Several guys have full-polished bodies...

Brent's car is a head-turner...

Pat Buckley's ex-car was a beaut as well.... let me dig up a pic.

The pictures of Pat's car kept me going through that crappy process! As well, he was a big help to me with regards to process, etc.

As for on the road, it's not a problem at all regarding glare, etc....at least for me. :)

With regards to keeping polished....well, I have given up on perfection. It just can't happen AND I justify my poor work ethic for maintaining it by telling myself it looks more "vintage" with a bit of patina. That said, it cleans up nicely with a little mothers and a microfibre towel.

Brent..

I know you have had the car awhile now so I'll ask a qusetion. With the exception of the drunk, how has the body held up in terms of dents?

Mike

Just fine. I actually took it offroading on my way to the WSCB a couple years ago and it held up just fine. I do have one little ding that I friggin caused when I knocked over a stupid light in my garage, but I was surprised how small the ding was. Quite easy to fix, just haven't taken the time.

Trade?

Hey Brent, I'll trade you a nice shinny new, black fiberglass body for that old dented alum one. I'll even pay the Kirkhams to do the swap. No more polishing!:D

jdog
P.S. Actually your car & a few others have made me consider getting into the tincan business!:)

Brent Mills 03-21-2007 10:17 PM

Hmmm...While that sounds like a really attractive offer, I don't think I can do that. :)

Maricopa 03-21-2007 10:42 PM

So what about the polished ERA? :D :D

Jamo 03-22-2007 12:02 AM

Of course glare isn't a problem for Brent, nor was it for Pat. They just drive around like those trailer park residents with campers on their rusted out pickups with flat plastic windows out back to blind everyone else.

To be honest...not really a problem for those driving around them. I've driven hundreds of miles with Buckley...in front, from the side and the rear...broad daylight and with headlights at night.

What's nice is pulling up alongside and seeing a reflection of just how utterly cool I am in my own. ;)

Asking about ERA in the Kirkham forum...bad form. :P

polishing a car would be more fun than polishing your garage floor (seeing your garage,it looks like you spend a lot of time on the floor)

It's actually real easy to keep clean. I had it professionally done. The kind you get at home depot doesn't last real long and doesn't use a clearcoat. It has 2 coats of clearcoat on it to protect it. If I spill something- I just wipe it up.

I guess I never knew ERA had an aluminum car.

I need to stay more up to date on this cobra sh!t
