Another random Kirkham owners Question
I have a question for small block Kirkham FIA owners who have the 427 chassis.....
Have you guys been able to mount your headers to the motor before installing the motor into the car? Is there enough room to work with? It would be great to know if that has been possible or not. I am right at that point and hope to make things a little easier. Thanks, Mike:confused: |
Mike,,, I wouldn't attempt engine install with headers bolted on. do you already have your headers? Engine bay is the same size on Kirkham hybrid & 427. Header install is not bad, depending on header design....Ron

Ron,
Thanks for the response. No I don't have headers yet...I have talked with the guys at Kirkham regarding a set from them for a small block. However, they are not at that stage yet with their tube bender. I am curious what some FIA owners are running on their Kirkhams?? Do I have to get some made or are there some off the shelf that will do? I guess like you said depending on design....I have to be honest, this is my first time building and am very green on the subject. With regards to engine bay being the same size, I am running a small block motor, so would that block be smaller in theory than a big block 427? Allowing more room for header clearance??? mike |
Mike, I couldn't any off the rack headers that would work on on my fia. I had custom made stainless steel exhaust made. I added 2 pics of headers to my gallery. Small block is easier to work on. There is more clearance W/small block, a little tight around brake-clutch box when not using side pipes...Ron

Thanks Ron, I am going to use those pictures in your gallery as a reference...if you don't mind.
