Dear Mr Kirkham,

congratulations on launching the Daytona Coupe. I'd like to go the original chassis route and put a 5-bolt 289 in there. Are you already taking downpayments on pre-orders?

Thank you. Yes, we are now taking orders for March 2013. We are sold out until then.

Whoa. Have i missed something here? This thread has been dead for 18 months! There are actual customer cars in the pipeline? I was getting ready to order a 427 street in about 6 months, but this changes things entirely. David, yes or no, will a FE fit and have you at least mocked up a big block? My 482 would look awfully purty in a daytona...

Phil

Yes, we are almost finished with car number 2. People just kept sending money so we finally tooled up. They are fabulous.

I seriously doubt an FE would fit in a coupe. There simply isn't any room under the bonnet. That is why we are making a billet small block :)

Our 427 street cars are sold out until 2013. Well, actually everything is sold out till spring 2013. Better hurry, we are about to have a price increase.

Thanks for the tip david. I'll hurry. Billet small block? Gluttons for punishment, you guys are. I was under the impression that the billet FE was ultimately a no go due to potential patent infringements regarding the water jacket design. You guys are unbelievable!

No wonder with such a nice car :) How should I proceed ? Is the Daytona kit listed on your website ? Being based in France, should I order through one of your representatives in Europe ?

We have not listed it on our website yet. We have been extremely busy these past few months. We were delivering a record two cars per week for a while. All Coupes are made in Utah--we are not making them in Poland. All sales are made from Utah.

Deposits are $25,000. The finished roller is $150,000. Price includes everything except engine, transmission, and paint. Price includes all plexiglas, windshield, drive shaft, radiator, panels, seats, switches, wiring, wheels, tires, lights, steering, battery, seat belts, shift handle, motor mounts, tranny mount, throttle linkage, brakes, original--leaf spring--suspension, exhaust. You don't have to look for any little parts--we supply them.

Thomas and I are seriously considering raising the price significantly in the near future. Current delivery is spring 2013. That can change at any moment. Send me an email or give me a call if you have any questions.

Ok. I have kept this pic to myself for the past two years. It's from my vacation visit to Kirkham in 2010. Since "the cat is out of the bag"....

David, is it asking too much to see a good current pic?

David Kirkham 07-01-2012 03:49 PM

I'll post pics tomorrow. We have just been so tied up with correcting mistakes and making tooling that we haven't had much time to post pics.

I want to post a build start to finish some time detailing how the car is made.

Thanks for the pics. I wish mine was that far along . Mark

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but since David brought it up and jamo locked the old billet block thread, can we have an update on that too? How did Keith's buildup and dyno turn out? Has one been beaten like a rented mule yet? I may have to buy one just cause it's so bloody cool. I'm already buying parts in my head...custom moldex crank, carillo rods, jesel valvetrain...oh man, maybe a cammer! Somebody stop me, i'm outta control!

David Kirkham 07-01-2012 08:48 PM

Mark,

The car is much further along than those photos. I'll post more soon.

Phil,
The block has many hard miles on it now. We are tweaking the design. Hope to have them out this year.

Thanks David I am looking forword to seeing them. By the way the quarter panel parts that I got from the scratch and dent sale with some minor changes and some minor changes to my buck I made It fit . It was a big help. The buck now looks better. I can also us the panel for a pattern to make the quarters for my car. Thanks again Mark

No, the real question is where can find $150,000 plus and engine and tranny.

And an even bigger question, when will the Kirkham's make magnesium Halibrands?

5 years ago...because somebody took it off topic.

There have been some threads on and off since then, along with a video link and a the one about the engine running in Sammich's car...recently posted with comments about sleeving.

I suggest you stay on topic without comment. No need to respond.
