KMP144 - Reg R66 TLJ - PPG Colour ?

Hi

I have seen the picture below of KMP144 and have been trying to find out what the colour is. I am told that it was painted by Chuck Nickloy chuckn@big-w.com ...... chuck says it is "Ford Blue & Wimbledon White" .... He is trying to find out more.

I need the PPG codes:

Ford twilight blue and Ford Dark Lapis Blue (Ford KH) have been used to good effect in the past. Does anyone know the car in question, which Ford Blue is this ?

The car is for sale -1965 Cobra S/C Roadster for Sale - duPontREGISTRY.com - I have also emailed the selling owner .... so far without a reply.

Anyone ?

I was able to visit the Paint Shop Today and looked up the colors we were painting at the time KMP 144 was painted.

Here are two color codes. One of which I think will match the car. I suggest acquiring samples to view.

Include a sample of the Wimbledon White for comparison.

PPG #'s

DBC 4069 $ T Twilight Blue Poly, This is a Ford color.

DBC 4797 T Dark Cloisonne Poly, This is a GM Color.
I hope you are able to Identify a color scheme to your taste.

Good news ............ I know Wimbledon White = PPG "8378" or Ford paint code is “9A”.

Anyone out there familiar with "Twilight Blue Poly" or "Dark Cloisonne Poly"?

The first two pictures are supposed to be Twilight Blue" and the third is car said (by Chuck) to be the same as KMP 144 ..... Are they they same and what does "Dark Cloisonne" look like? :confused:

............... Later I found this picture of a "Dark Cloisonne" car on the web ---- I guess that rules out that colour!

Now PPG step in - There are loads of Ford Twilight Blues .... They dont know the code Chuck gave "DBC 4069" so which one is it? - Anyone?

It seems that "DBC" = PPG Deltron paint system ....... WE HAVE A WINNER!

The car in the first post of this thread was painted in "Deltron 4069 Twilight Blue Metalic Poly" = Ford "MK" or PPG "FRD.M6290A"

Errrrr .......... Wrong, OR NOT ? !

If you search the PPG site and use "Fleet" you will find this information .... is this the final answer? :confused:

Chuck has been very kind and has just sent a picture of the actual can of paint that was used to paint the car ......... how many of us could even find the tin, let alone take the trouble to send a picture ......... Chuck THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED :)
