Old Kirkham Owners!
How long you need to drive the car before the carpets & interior quit filling up with aluminium dust? I have vacumed my car and blown it out with air until I feel I am stressing the limits of my quality chalanged stock carpet. Every so often I even get one in my eye.
|
Sounds like you need to quit sanding and clean the body better.
Find a finish you are happy with and leave it alone. Put away the scotchbrite and just use windex to clean it occassionally. |
What Scott said. Was your carpet in before you finished sanding/scotchbriting the body?
Really wash down the body. |
Big-B -- The full face wrap around sunglasses old people wear should stop anything from getting in your eye. :p
|
No carpet was not in prior to sanding. Sort of like when you take a 4X4 to Pismo seems like you never get the sand out, know what I mean?

I have not had that problem. I guess I am not old enough?

Boss,
I`m 65 and #318 is starting season #4 this spring. I still notice a speck of aluminium in the seat pleats ever so often, I don`t use any carpet, so no problem there Are you going to the Bash? Maurice |

Doesn't make sense...I mean there's some for a few days of driving, but it didn't last long. Lots of drafts inside the car...could be coming from under the dash? |
never had any
|
Maybe the car is slowly disintigrating at a molecular level.

Yep, I've had the same problem, only I experienced large pieces of aluminum flying around in the cockpit.
I had a very hard time identifying this debris. At first I thought my car was totally coming apart.....most of the pieces were large enough to put an eye out. These large particals would come flying into the cockpit, hit me in the head (thank god for sunglasses) and then exit out of the vehicle. It was just recently I was able to obtain a piece of this aluminum when it lodged into the area of my crotch. Damn near took my pecker off!!! After removing the piece of aluminum and reading the words "Bud Light", I have come to the conclusion that it was nothing more than a beer bottle cap. God damn it Kumpie..........you are following me next time we get the cars out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this helps................. |
It's worse when they're not empty... Full beer cans hurt.

No I am not going to the Bash, next year. I am going to the Kirkham homecuming. I am going to drive it with no means of support via Death Valley. Leaving Wednesday either be there Late wednesday night or thursday morning for the track day then on to the Utah drive. Can't make school day (got to bid a job). Oh well.
Anybody want to tag along? |
Hmmmmm carpet, that's right, I was suppose to stop driving long enough 3 yrs ago to put the carpet in, just never got around to it.
