I had a similar experience. I crunched the front end of my 427 Lemans 2 weeks before the Grand National Roadster Show. I emailed Dave and Tom a few pictures of the damage and they said “not problem”. I transported my car to Provo and 2 days later my cobra was repaired. Not only was the repair perfect, they installed a passenger roll bar (my request), went over the entire car mechanically and took out every little body imperfection. My car ended up at the Grand Nationals building 5 for the second time. The Kirkham’s truly take care and pride of their creations well after they leave the shop. Thanks again, Darren KMP500;)

There is no company and no group of people like the Kirkhams. Exceptional in every way. Not only will they will give you the shirt off their back, they will overnight it to you, fly out to help you put it on, and not charge a cent.

David and Tom were awesome to deal with when I bought my car. And the car itself was a work of art. And David has gone out of his way to help with parts for my SHELBY after I sold my Kirkham.

I am new to the forum and considering a 427 KMS S/C. I have been in e-mail contact with Steve, and whilst awaiting his answer on my latest questions I thought that I would repost them here for a collective opinion.

How complete is the roller? Is it truly install the engine, transmission and driveshaft, attach the fuel lines, alternator, starter, radiator hoses, add fluids and a battery?

When considering the dropped footbox, how tall is a "tall driver"? I am 6'3 with a size 14 foot. When seated, the distance from my buttock to heel is 48 inches. Do you routinely have the dropped foot boxes in stock? [edit: I have since learned that the dropped footboxes are an in-house item, so they are readily available]

What is your recommendation regarding not immediately finishing the filed body? Does the filed body look / weather acceptably?

The FAQ mentions that the engine heat negates the need for a defroster - am I understanding correctly that the windshield will stay clear on a reasonably cool morning or evening drive due to radiant heat from the engine?

It is my intent to test fit a car ASAP, but that is several months out (I'm currently out of town on "business" - my Uncle has kept me pretty busy lately).

I have an engine/transmission already that I bought for another project, but midway through it, I realize that I really want a roadster instead of a coupe (1970 Mach I).

See attached picture. It should weather the same as brushed. However, it's better to finish the body whether painting or brushing or polishing before the interior is in, but not impossible later, just a bit more work and more care to keep the interior/engine/trunk clean. . .

After about 20 minutes of driving, from the waist down it's warm enough to open the fresh air vents when it's 45 degrees out. (as long as you're wearing a ski coat, hat and gloves). These cars come with no top, so you don't need a defroster. If you get a top custom made for it, I am not sure if the window would fog up, but I suspect no, since the interior won't really be sealed, you'd still have a lot of air "leaks".

I did most of the drive train and interior work on my Kirkham myself, except I had Kirkham do the brushed finish. I recommend investing in the money up front to have Kirkham complete the brushed or polished finish! They do the finish work prior to installing anything on the roller. After seeing how much effort go into the finish work, I would not attempt to do this myself, especially once the car is assembled. Food for thought! It seems like a lot of money, but the brushed finish looks great!
