Recommendations for a stage control kit
I want to put a line lock on my car and hope that someone has installed one and could tell me if it works and how hard it is to install. I have found a 555-63002K from JEGS, but do not know if it is a good unit.

Yes they work...easy answer. No you don't need all the extra stuff they sell. All the lock is, is a solenoid. Put it in the front wheel line, some people do one wheel or two wheel lock. I didn't mine to lock both wheels. Then you will need a button to activate. Run an electric line from fuse block to line lock and then through the button. Press down on brakes, then press the button. The solenoid closes, take foot off brake. Front brakes still have pressure on them as long as you hold the button. You can get a solenoid for 30-40 dollars, another 25 dollars for parts and you're done.

I used summit part # BMM-46076- $72.95- solenoid, button that lights, fuse, everything you need except the fittings, but you should have fittings from the build.
It's really fun to use to do long smokey burnouts. |

I also used the Summit solenoid. Splicing it into the front brake lines was about as easy as it gets. Run a low amp poer line through the switch and to the solenoid, and oyu're done. Pretty simple, really.
I use mine all the time: getting started on hills, loading into the trailer, etc. Very handy. I initaially used that shifter ball with the switch built in. Looks cool, and very easy to use, especially with the standard goofy shifter arm angle. But, it didn't last very long. I replaced that with a Hurst button that has an elastic strap for the shifter arm. That has worked excellenty for years. |
