Ignition system

Hello I was getting ready to order the Unilite ignitor 2 system for my distributor and would like to know if any one else is using it or has used it.I've heard good things about it.

Sorry James. Wish I could help but I've never used that system.

unilite Mallory

I just installed the Unlite system. So sweet. I did not even have to remove the distributor to install. Bolts right in place of the dual points.I replace the coil with an other oil filled coil that is electronic and the wires with spiral core.So it looks old school but has all the advantages of electronic ignition system. If any one else is running points you should look into this system. You can convert your Mallory distributor for about $250.00.

Ive heard that the unilite diodes burn out and leave you stranded, therefore carry an extra one.

I've used MSD magnetic breakerless distributors and Digital-6 boxes on two projects. The distributors corrode inside despite drilling venting holes in the caps, and the ignition systems seem to be hard to get working at times.

Next time, I'm going with Mallory Hi-Fire ignition, and try a mallory magnetic breakerless distributor as I haven't been pleased with MSD.
