shifter

I don't seem to find any pictures of a Lone Star replica with a "correct" looking shifter. How come? Can it be done? Does it have anything to do with the extra 4" of wheelbase and location of the trans?

If you have a picture with one installed, please post it.'

Thanks.

Take a look in my gallery under "details". It's not a Lone Star, but shows how the correct shifter looks in the cockpit.

Al -- thanks for the response. Yup, that's the look I was seeking -- just trying to figure out why I never see a Lone Star with that set up...

A snake,

From the pictures of Als car it looks as if he is running a 4 speed transmission. Are you using a 5 speed top loader in yours ? If so it may be hard to find a shifter lever that will bolt on and give you that 1964-65 backwards look. On the four speed he reversed the shifter lever because in the stock configuration it was almost impossible to shift to 2nd and 4th because of clearance between the shifter and fire extinguiser mounted between the seats. I am sure there must be some places that make a shifter like that to adapt to the 5 speeds byt don't know who they are. None of my parts books shows any.%/ %/

I have 5 speed tremec in my car, use a shifter from finishline, looks pretty much like the set up in A Snake's car.
Bolts right onto the tremec, although I modified it to suit my lhd car. Pic in my gallery.

The shifter handles from finishline fit Tremecs fine, used them a bunch of times. Some cars want the shifter handle shortened so your knuckles won't hit the dash when you shift into first third or fifth.
