Welcome !

Thankfully,...someone is active again. Tell us about what you have and your plans,

Luce 06-23-2022 06:42 PM

Oh, you again.

Welcome aboard.

Beware of binding 4 links and broken front A arms.

I broke engine mounts several times until my friend welded up a larger pair. The original ? Ones would fail from the torque and separate. I think they were improperLy sized, probably another DIY poor choice. .

Two years in, wonderful car. Drive it all the time, long trips too.

FUNFER2 10-08-2022 05:39 PM

Are you speaking about FE motor mounts breaking ?
I've never had a issue.

No. 408 Windsor. The bolts connecting the bracket to the engine repeals sheared off on driver side. I suspect incorrect motor mount placed undue stress on them from poor orientation. My friend picked up a larger set from a truck, and welded them such that the rubber is not able to stretch. In effect hard bolted to block and frame. No more issues. I think this was a builder issue, not factory. I don’t have another lonestar to compare against, although the first time the broke I replaced them with recommendations from one of the posts here as I recall. Yes the bolts were grade 8. Heads snapped clean off! I inspect frequently and see nothing untoward so far.

VIN Location Help

Have 2014 '65 Replica Cobra LSC427 VIN#4LSCBA2173H001589 on MCO. Where is VIN on car? It's not on the firewall. Trying to register/title car and can't do it without VIN# verification.

I had the same concerns when I went to change my title/registration to another state. I had heard that the VIN was somewhere on the frame. I solved the issue with some ingenuity and it worked like a charm! A custom plate and installation.

66 Lone Star Cobra Owner I think?

Hello everyone! I bought a Repli-Cobra a few months ago and when I bought it I had no idea who owned it built it or what company manufactured the kit. Now that I have had time to do alot more research on the car. At this point I am pretty sure it is a Lone Star Cobra. Here's why; It has a 94"wheelbase, longer and wider footbox, narrower tunnel, engine sits farther ahead in the engine bay, 1 piece 2-person rollbar, 2x4 steel frame, Currie 9"rearend, Ididit tilt steering column, 87 5.0, Tremec TKO 500, Wilwood disc brakes front and rear, Wilwood Master Cylinders, Wilwood clutch/brake pedals, Wilwood external clutch slave, Mustang II Style rack n pinion front susp. and adjustable coil overs on all 4 corners. At 1st I thought it may be an Ultimate Classics Car Cobra. But now I'm pretty sure it's actually a Lone Star. Here are some pictures.

Yep, looks like a Lone Star. Mine was one of their turn-key cars with a 428FE in it. It now runs a Keith Craft 482" aluminum block 427 side-oiler with a ton of other mods. I've owned it for 20 years.

66CobraGuy 08-07-2023 06:16 AM

Thank you!

FUNFER2 08-07-2023 06:25 PM

The second pic I said, yep no doubt it's a LSC. The way they molded around the engine bay and the dash, which are great. The three reservoirs on the firewall, the Griffin radiator, 94" wheelbase etc. I've never seen that type of rollbar though, so do you know the year ? It has the stainless dash insert with the gauges and layout. What size wheels ? The new owner changed the business name, went to 17" wheels and at first,...he did not include provisions for the FE engine, which I told him that is crazy !

The Tremec 500 is a older version. I don't understand why the vin plate is located there ??? It should be on the drivers side firewall.

The hood scoop looks a little taller to me than mine and undys. Our frames, suspension, bodies were from 2000.

Can you get us more photos of the interior and the frame & chassis ?

Here are more pics of the frame/chassis/dashboard. Hope these help. Yes it has 17"rims and tires. 245's up front and 325's in back. Had Nittos on it. I didn't like them and switched to Mickey Thompsons.

FUNFER2 08-08-2023 06:17 AM

Nice pics. I'm 99% that it's a LSC.
Didn't you speak to the owner ?
What does the title and pink slip read ?
Get us a side pic.

I didn't speak to the original owner nor do I have any idea who the original owner was. The person I bought it from didn't get any paper work other than a Tennessee titled as a 1966 Shelby Cobra. No certificate of origin. I'm thinking it was an auction car.

Nice. I like my lone star. 408w. I do want to swap out my Boyd coddington fancy wheel for a set of more period wheels.

I dumped the Boyds too. Give Vintage wheels' Bob Lacey a call and get some OEM style knock-offs.

I've had Team lll 1/2 polished 15" wheels for 15 years and they still look great. They have the appearance of a real knock wheel, but they have a cover that goes over all 5 of the lug nuts.
