kick panel area

wow...seems I am the only one here with LS questions?

Anyway, now that I have the car at home and spent some time yesterday making a list of things to do to finish/improve it I noticed that the kick panel area is VERY unfinished looking.

It is effectively the finished mold with little covering which looks a little odd as you see mountings for the windscreeen posts etc. Is there a panel/item that people fit into this area, is it just covered with carpet or is it simply left 'barebones'?

Anyone got a picture of the kick panel/under dash area on their LS?

Thanks
Paul

Paul,
I ran out and took a few pics of my kick panels and posted them in my gallery. Sounds like yours may not be installed if you can see the cowl bar where it bolts to the floor/frame. Its a fiberglass panel that fits between the door hinge and cowl bar and extends to the rear between the door sill and floor. The assembly manual was extremelly vague in the area of installation and I really couldn't understand exactly how it was to be attached. I modified them but cutting them apart and reglassing them together to get a better/cleaner fit. I welded the bolts that go thru the cowl bar and attach the hinge from behind since they are inaccessable after the panel is in place. Carpet is glued to the panel and I also carpeted the area forward of the panel which is basically the inside of the body. Hope this helps.

Brad

Thanks, much appreciated! Mine looks...erm...VERY different!

I am able to look at the inside of the body molding with no panels on the interior whatsoever.

Did you get these items from Lonestar? Your interior looks great, I will be over the moon ifi get something similar!

I think I see what 2kwik did.

That black part in 2kwik's pic is the rocker panel, as you get it from LS. Then there are those door openning inner trim pieces. I had those carpeted black, 2 kwik has them in brown.

Then, it looks like you either purchased or made inner kick panels the go from the inner door openning trim into the foot box.

I had to make those.

BTW, I let Steve at LS talk me into cutting up the rocker panel to get the cowl bar in and now after the car is basically done, they look like crap. I'll figure something out.

Dave, what do you have after your hinges???

Looking forward to see you at London.
